Yao not needed in blowout win over Uzbeikstan

Yao warms up before China’s game against Uzbeikstan, but he wasn’t needed and did not play in a game the Chinese easily won 84-52. China’s head coach Jonas Kazlauskas wanted to test the strength of the squad without Yao, playing against a team that lost badly to Chinese Taipei and Iran. Yao runs over Iran, scores 29

Yao blocks the shot of an Iranian player on Thursday as the Chinese national team defeated Iran 76-61. Yao finished with 29 points, 17 rebounds, 3 blocks and 4 steals. He also scored 17 of his points from the free throw line (in 23 attempts), having fouled out two of Iran’s centers. To read more about the game and see more photos from the game,

Yao donates bone marrow

Yao donates bone marrow at Beijing’s People’s University on Sunday and was appointed a spokesman for the China Marrow Donor Program of the Red Cross Society of China.

Yao signs maximum 5-year deal

Chinese beat Iceland second time in a row

Yao posts up an overmatched Iceland center in the second game of their series in China. The Chinese national team won the game 96-80. Yao scored 15 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 22 minutes of action.

Yao plays for the first time in months – Iceland falls to China

Yao shoots a hook shot against Iceland in his first game action since having ankle surgery in June. China won the game 89-51, with Yao leading all players in scoring (19 points) and rebounds (9). To see more photos from the game,

Yao continues his workouts in China

Yao does sprints in practice, then gets interviewed by the media after his workout with the Chinese national team. Yao and his teammates will be traveling to Xian on August 28th and Harbi (August 30th) for their last exhibition series with the national team from Iceland.. Yao gets back to work
