You are right on. Also, I noticed the scoreboard showing 14 rebounds six minutes left in the fourth quarter. After that, I saw Yao got at least a couple of rebounds. So, his rebound total must be 17 not 13.

CCTV5 now replays the Iranian match.

And it further proved that the stats provided by Sina.com has to be WRONG.

Yao Ming was benched for rest 3 minutes before end of 4Q. How can his play minutes be 38 minutes ??? They must have mistaken that each quarter is 12 minutes as in NBA.....and forgot that this is international rules of 10 minutes per quarter.

And his rebounds was not 13 but 17 !!

If Australia can beat China by ~40pts, why can't China beat the likes of Iran and Taiwan by ~40pts. It seems the gap between Australia and China is much bigger than the gap between China and it's Asian counterparts.

I have to say that he's making some nice strides. He's had a bunch of nice blocks and made some open jumpers from the perimeter. What impressed me the most was his quickness off the ground in going after blocks. They are on-ball blocks, not weakside, and a couple of times it seemed like his man had opened up enough space to shoot, but Yi closed the gap in a hurry for a rejection. Now he's usually matched up against somebody shorter than he is, but those guys are supposed to have a quickness advantage on him but that hasn't seemed to be the case.

I think he'll definitely be a good player in the NBA. At the least a rotation-caliber guy. And if he can build up his body, work on his rebounding and low post game, then he has a chance to be a star. But all the physical tools and talent are present.

Australia beat China by 40 in an exhibition game. The real Oceana games were the next week, so Australia was playing seriously and China was practicing. At the international level of competition you beat teams by 40 if the losing team gives up. Taiwan did not give up, and China sat Yao in the fourth quarter. China was up by 20 at the end of the third quarter, and that big a lead was enough.
