At Read to Achieve on Monday, the understated Yao quipped in typical fashion, “”I (wanted) to listen, not read. I (wanted) to sit with the kids.” But then got serious and followed up with, “But no, I do like reading to them.”

Yao shoots over San Antonio’s Robert Horry on Sunday night on his way to 24 points in a 93-72 preseason victory over the Spurs, who played without Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, or Bruce Bowen. Yao also grabbed 10 rebounds, 2 blocks and 3 assists.
