Yao’s Shanghai MAXXIS Sharks have hired a new coach after former coach Bob Donewald’s contract ended and he signed a contract with the Xinjiang Guanghui Flying Tigers for a much higher salary. After interviewing over 30 candidates over the past 2 1/2 months, The Sharks hired NBDL Los Angeles D-fender’s Head Coach Dan Panaggio.

Meanwhile, Yao has arrived in Australia to be with his Sharks team that will be playing in the Cable Beach Invitational from September 30th and October 1st against the NBL Perth Wildcats, the Indonesian national team and the Singapore Slingers.
