Do Chinese people buy Yao jerseys?

A few days ago (Tuesday, April 10th) a Seattle blogger went to the Sonics-Rockets game to find out why people of Chinese heritage supposedly don’t buy that many Yao jerseys. Here’s his post.

I remember when Yao and Tmac were at jimmy kimmel’s show Yao got asked this question, Yao said “because they all already got mine” or something similar. I actually think it is because in China, people buy Jersey’s not to wear them to games, but to wear on the playgrounds. In that case people really want players they can imagine themselves to be, as it is pretty unrealistic to imagine oneself to be Yao, people tend to buy Jerseys of the smaller players. I would for sure be laughed at if I wear a Yao Jersey to play basketball as I am only 5′5…

I love Yao! He is so talented and tall. Without Yao the rockets wouldn’t be so good and my favorite team!
