Yao has ankle surgery, still unsure about his future

Yao had surgery on his left ankle to repair the stress fracture there. Here’s an article from the Chronicle that explains it all. Here’s the statement that came from Yao today:

“I’d like to thank everyone for their ongoing support. I know this will be another long rehab, but I’m looking forward to beginning my recovery. I will use this time to consider all of my options and will make a decision regarding my career plans as I get closer to the end of my rehab.”

Get well soon, big fella.

You know Yao personally. Why does he keep using Dr. Clanton for all his surgeries when they have been unsuccesful? Why not use Big Z’s surgeon or Grant Hill’s surgeon or just someone other than Clanton? Has Yao ever told you why he keeps using Clanton? Is the Rockets forcing Yao to keep using this surgeon

Clanton consulted Big Z, and Big Z recommends him. Clanton is one of the best in the country, if not the best. Here’s a quote from a story at http://www.ohio.com/sports/160…:

Ilgauskas said the Rockets’ team doctor, Tom Clanton, is one of the best specialists in the country and he consulted with him before having the operation that changed his career seven years ago.

”He is in good hands,” Ilgauskas said.

Let’s face it — it’s not the surgery that’s been the problem. It’s Yao’s physique, minutes, etc. that has to be addressed, not the surgery.

Although I know Yao, there's no way I'm in the inner circle of his medical discussions to know more details than this.
