Yao expresses early season concerns

November 3rd, 2008

Raymond has translated in the forum an interview that Yao gave after the Rockets pushed their record to 3-0.

He talked extensively about problems he has seen with the team thus far, and about the common concern of his fans about the extraordinarily long minutes he has played in this young season. Yao admits that if he keeps his minutes up at this rate, he won’t last more than 40 or 50 games. Click here for the full translation.

However, even with an excused absence from attending Sunday’s practice to prevent wear-and-tear, Yao decided to attend the practice after all! Hey Yao, be careful out there! Click here for photos from the practice.

I just watched houston and boston's game. Sad to say I am very disappointed with Yao's performance...he was playing like a girl. No energy! He needs some testosterone or something. Very weak, vulnerable. Perkins blocked his shots I don't know how many times. Yao you're 7'5 and you can't even dunk the ball....you move in slow motion. You reaction time is way too slow, you seem very lethargic and out of sync and control. Am saying all these because I am a fan of yours since you got drafted, but your performance for this game really ridiculed me. I was so stress and I wanted rick to sit you down because you were playing like an elementary player. Where is you intensity? Remember when you dunked on ben wallace, garnett...and so many others. And the silly fouls that you commited on the first and second half was no excuse. The basketball was way too hot for your hands, seems like you were afraid to touch the ball, maybe you were just too scared for this game. ......I wonder if you'll ever be a champ because you don't have the heart to win....you only play well with bad teams, and most of the time your team is struggling to win. Yao if you are reading this!!! Please show us your energy...if you want to foul the guy hard and not tickle them. If you want to foul make it count. Bully your way inside like you used to...show them what all that height and weight and brain can do....the most important is don't be LAZY!!!!! No matter how hard you practice and train if you're lazy when you are in an actual game then it's useless. And to brent barry please shoot closer to the three point line...for god sake. thanks!!!
