Yao opts for surgery

March 1st, 2008

No surprise in the announcement today that Yao will undergo surgery to repair the stress fracture in his left foot rather than just do rest and rehab. Evidently the second opinion he got yesterday from another specialist in Charlotte, NC confirmed the same thing he heard from Dr. Tom Clanton in Houston.

It looks like the surgery to insert several screws into the bone to help it heal will be done on Monday. For more on the story, click here.

The Chinese Basketball Team finally got what had been expected — a worn out Yao Ming.

A child should be obedient to the parents in principle. But when the orders from the parents are too extreme, a child should apply common sense in obeying the orders. Of course, I am talking about a MATURE child. If the child is not mature, he will obey to all the orders, even if they are silly ones. Carrying out foolish orders will be harmful to the child himself and to the parents also.

I hope the parties concerned have finally learnt a costly lesson.

Good luck to Yao in the operation and the rehabilitation.

Good luck, Yao, all the best and have a speedy recovery. But don’t rush into coming back though.

Good luck, Yao. But I’m sure Yao will be back by the Olympics, even if he’s not 100%. The guy has a big heart for his country, and we should respect that.

Yao, nothing wrong to have heart for both teams (Chinese National Team and Rockets). We respect it. Speedy recovery!
