Yao helps Steve on Christmas Eve

December 25th, 2007

Our Raymond has pics in the forum of Yao Ming and Dikembe Mutombo making an appearance Christmas Eve at the Dave & Buster’s restaurant and video arcade in Houston at Steve Francis‘ charity event for 100 children of the Boys and Girls’ Club of Houston.

Pictured below is Francis, Yao and Steve’s little girl in Yao’s lap. Awww, isn’t that cute?

It’s good to see the players are doing something Christmas-y during their break to benefit others (unlike that “Casino Night” at Toyota Center with season ticket holders on Sunday, December 19th.) Although Steve has been struggling on the court, I’ve got to give him props for being so involved with the community in his adopted hometown. The city of Houston definitely appreciates him.

  1. Michael Jodron Says:

TMac and Yao must be able to trust his team mates, not included Rafer, Hays, and Battier. Sorry, these 3 can not score players must step down, and let Brooks, Bonzi, and Scola become starters.

The main problem for rox is Tmac and Yao all tried too hard to score from the start, and that momentum, reduced his team mates involved in the game, after Tmac shoot most of the shots, they can not score even they are opened. Tmac must dish the ball to his team mates once he is double teamed, same as Yao, Brooks, Bonzi, and Scloa are all capable of finish the job, unlike Rafer, Hays, or Battier, often got cold when they have wided open shots, Tmac and Yao must reserve their energy to the end, and wrap up a win in 4th quarter.

If Brooks, Bonzi and Scloa become starters, Francis or James, no Rafer(he is not qualified for 3rd unit), and Battier may help out in the 4th to win.

The problem is Rafer, Hays and Battier are jelling with Yao and Tmac, however, their skill level and talent are not compatible with other elite teams, that is why we often see besides Yao and Tmac, these 3 dudes combine points are so low, either yao or tmac got cold, rox got shut down all the way, and Tmac often tries to force his jump shots, yes, when he is hot, no 1 can stop him, but a lot of time, especially recent days, we see his struggling, and still try to shoot his way out.

With Brooks, Scola, and Bonzi on Yao and Tmac wings, how hard is that to get a win? other team can not leave any of them alone, they all can create their own shots and finish on the rim, unlike Rafer, Hays and Battier, other teams can just concentrate Tmac and Yao, and take their chances to let Rafer and Battier shoot 3s(God knows how happy they make other team coaches when they shoot), once they box out Hays, then it is “Game Over”.

Not sure when Adelman will come to his sense, that these 3 dudes (Rafer, Hays, Battier) are the main reason that rox can not win, they are defensive players (Rafer can not even defend any elite teams point guards)

Luther Head, this dude is a strange guy, hesitated to pass the first open entrance pass to Yao, always thinking about cut and make a lay up or shoot 3s. Just watch him, not a good point guard, and his role is conflict with Bonzi, James, and Francis. Only Brooks is a true point guard, and can score at will when opportunities are there.

Without Brooks, Scloa, and Bonzi as starters, rox has no chance to get the 8 spot.

    PS
Rafer probably misunderstand the meaning of a point guard, he thinks point guard needs to score points.
