Trivia question

A few days ago I posted a trivia question at the end of a very long post. A few people wanted to know the answer, so I thought I would post the question by itself to bring more attention to it before providing the answer. So here’s the question one more time:
What common term have I not used this season, which I had used alot over the past couple of seasons, and why?

finally, after countless hours of research, i think the answer is Tracy McGrady vs T-Mac previously.
Why? The only thing I could come up is ’cause his Adida’s TMac Shoe, reserved trade mark?
Ben…Congratulations! You got the first part right. You must have done alot of research! The reasoning is different, but I’ll tell you the reason. It’s because I’m tired of athletes who create nicknames for them that haven’t really done anything yet, like, uh, carrying their team to winning a playoff series.
I decided to start using McGrady’s given name after last year’s elimination by the Jazz in the first round. Not that I don’t think McGrady is a great player, but I think nicknames that hyphenate with a shortening of the player’s last name is silly, and are usually used by players who haven’t won a championship (e.g., J-Will, A-Rod).
Isn’t it funny that the truly great athletes didn’t need to create a name for themselves when they became great, like Steve Nash, Dwyane, Shaq (although I love “The Diesel”), Kobe, Tiger, Lance, etc. In fact, that’s the true aspiration: when your first name is recognized without needing to do anything to it. “Tracy” is a unique enough first name that’s up for grabs for McGrady to claim so it can be synonymous with him in every household. Or when McGrady wins a championship, I will start referring to that manufactured name he created.

Cool! I have to admit that I’m a royal YaoMingMania fan, way since the mergeer of the legacy sites…
Agree with your comments, althought typing the full name can be a real pain I’m sure.
When they win a championship, I have to come up a nickname for Yao…
That’s cool you have been reading YaoMingMania before the merger of the sites. That’s a long time. Thanks! I hope I can keep writing, though. I love doing it, but it has been taking way too much of my time for the past 5 1/2 years without any financial compensation. Hopefully the PamBee ad on the right side of the page will help things. Wow, I never thought in that direction. I have been doing some selective researches too but failed to examine the names. Good point, John, all those great players with rings don’t need nick names, but you need to include “Michael” too. Even though it’s one of the most common names in English, people will still know who you are referring to if you just say his first name.
