China's celebrity couple Bruno Wu Zheng and Yang Lan had formed a new joint venture with Kazuyoshi Ishii, the founder of the financially troubled K-1 of Japan.

Last night, in Beijing, Kazuyoshi Ishii officially announced FIKA today, and has promised it will be a new day for K-1 worldwide.

The new governing body for K-1 is called FIKA: Federation International K-1 Association, which will be 60% owned by Seven Stars Global Entertainment Group, under Red Rock Capital, the investment arm of Sun Enterprises Group of which Bruno Wu Zheng is the chairman, and the remaining 40% will be owned by Kazuyoshi Ishii and his management team.

FIKA will be headquartered in Beijing.

According to what was disclosed,
they want FIKA to be like the FIFA of kick-boxing. They are looking to hold events around the world to bring a "World Cup" feeling.

In their initial plan, tournaments will be held first in China starting April 2012, and in other countries around the world, and later in the year there will be a K-1 World Grand Prix to be held in China.

FIKA has also brought on famous Chinese folk singer Song Zuying to sing the official FIKA theme song. The theme song will apparently be recorded in English as well, which Song Zuying was quoted saying it would help FIKA have a global appeal.

Well, the launch of FIKA did hit the headline today, as Bruno Wu Zheng and Yang Lan were severely bombarded by netizens over Internet for inviting Sora Aoi to be one of the guests attending the launch and cocktail reception, as alot of the netizens did not think it appropriate for Sora Aoi to take photos standing beside the "popular" folk singer Song Zuying, and other Hong Kong and Chinese actresses, like Carina Lau Kar Ling and Wang Yi, who were also present in last night's FIKA launch.

They need to stop hatin. Aoi Sora is a pro, she can do both pr0n and non-pr0n.

Besides, you ever watch Chinese tv shows? Majority of the actresses suck. Aoi suck, but that was in character. lol.

I actually like it that she's there to shake sh1t up.

Well, alot of the netizens were ACTUALLY quite narrow-minded and TOO nationalistic.

They said Song Zuying is one of the most famous soprano of China, that enjoyed success and fame in China and overseas; she held many political posts in China; she was a representative of 9th NPC, and now a representative of 10th CPPCC, the standing member of China Youth Union, the executing member of China Women Union, the member of China Literature and Art Union, and has been a non-combatant Rear Admiral 海军少将 in the Chinese Navy of the People's Liberation Army.

Therefore they viewed it as a personal insult for Song Zuying to be taking photos together with Sora Aoi, who they viewed as just a Japanese AV actress, who just stripped and showed her body/private parts on screen to become famous.

They just CONVENIENTLY forgot WHO Song Zuying was.

It is ALMOST PUBLIC SECRET in China that THE REASON WHY
Song Zuying became famous and rich, got invited almost every year onto the CCTV Spring Festival Gala, given the most chances in her career was that she also slept her way up as she had a long-running affair/adultery with former Chinese president Jiang Zemin.

From that perspective, Song Zuying is NO DIFFERENT TO Sora Aoi.

Current K-1 Super Heavyweight world champion Semmy Schilt of Netherlands was also in Beijing to be present in the launch.

Japanese actress Norika Fujiwara 藤原纪香 also sent in her congratulatory message on video tele-conferencing.

I think pr0n actress fit right in for a K1 event. It's the rest of the people that's out of place.

Also off topic, I think I've seen yang lan speak for TED.

its just a rumour. she was famous be4 she met jiang zemin. i think people are pissed cuz a porn star gets the same spotlight with a nationally treasured singer. its just a stupid k1 promotion. most famous women r gold diggers anyway. its better to be a known whore than a secret whore that pretends to be good. twins is an example of that

Well Yang Lan is known to be Oprah of China FOR A REASON.

Yang Lan is very famous and popular in China as a TV star and media entrepreneur whose talk show have been watched by over 200 million people per week.

In her talk show, she interviewed hundreds to thousands of foreign and Chinese celebrities over the past 6 to 7 years that included and not limited to Yao Ming, Liu Xiang, Jet Li, Chow Yunfat, Andy Lau, Faye Wong, Louis Cha (Jin Yong), Prince Charles, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Bill Clinton, Hilary Clinton, Henry Kissinger, Jimmy Carter, Madeleine Albright, Thaksin Shinawatra (former Thai prime minister), Ma Ying-jeou (when he was still Taipei Mayor), Lee C Bollinger (President of University of Columbia), Chris Patton, Princess Anne, Rupert Murdoch, Nicole Kidman, Jackie Chan, Jackie Cheung, Guo Jingjing, David Ho (the Chinese American AIDS researcher), Jack Welch (former GE CEO) , Andrew Webber, Celine Dion, Stephen Chow, Yang Liwei (China's first astronaut), Kobe Bryant, Venus Williams, Sarah Brightman, Elaine Page, Zhang Qiyi, etc. etc. basically across various fields and walks of life.

She is VERY VERY GOOD, eloquent in both English and Mandarin.

She actually had did a couple talks for TED in the past I believe....at least two I'm aware of.

  • One for TEDWomen in Beijing televised live to Washington in December 2010 on Chinese women's role in China's development.
  • The other one was done in July this year in TED Global Conference held in Edinburgh Scotland. Her topic was The generation that's remaking China, offering her insights into the next generation of young Chinese citizens and how Internet and social netwroking tools/medium are helping to change China.

wait a sec, which websites do you go to? The people daily or other ccp official foorums? Cuz from my experience with the mainland netizens, based in both domesttic and overseas, it is the exact opposite. Admittedly, they are composed mostly of young males, thus overwhelmingly positive of aoi and derisive of song. I mean aoi is often praised for her contribution to the young chinese teen's sex education which is lacking in china schools. And ignored by reluctant chinese parents . For them, young males, aoi not only is their goddess but a valuable study material. So much so they call her lao shi or teacher in their posts.

oth, song is frequently mocked as guo mu for her alleged affair with jiang. I think it started out with the anti ccp netizens and flg nutjobs but now seem to enter into internet mainstream lingo. Such is the resentment among mianland public of their officials and misstresses.

ps. I'm not defending aoi. In fact, i dun even like her that much, i dun think she is the hottest jap av actress out there, but even though i dun get the massive appeal she gets from fans, she is quite easily one of the most, if not the most famous and adored av star in mainland. Heck some netizens rate her higher than film actresses.
