Have been lazy to update on some of Yao Ming's recent activities.

He was a busy man in the past 10 days.

He was first in Macao on April 30, taking the Shanghai MAXXIS Sharks junior team to play against a team comprised of NBA retirees (including Gary Payton, Jason Williams, Horace Grant, Rafer Alston) and actors/singers from Hong Kong and Taiwan ( Alex Fong, Louis Cheung, Alien Huang, Godfrey Gao and Kelvin Kwan).

On the night of April 30th, there was this charity gala dinner to raise funds for the recent Sichuan Yaan earthquake, whereupon Yao Ming contributed alot of his personal items (Houston Rockets jersey, NBA All Star jersey, CNT jersey, autographed basketballs, autographed Reebok shoes) for auction.

And on May 1, Yao Ming had a fully-packed day, conducting three basketball-related events. In the morning, he and his Shanghai Sharks team hosted a local youth basketball clinic and training session with 30 local players from the Macao-China Basketball Association (MCBA).

This was then followed by a press conference in the afternoon together with the major sponsor of the event, Sands China Ltd.

And at night time, there was this exhibition game held at the Venetian Cotai Arena in which the Shanghai MAXXIS Sharks junior team was narrowly defeated 78 ~ 74 by their opponents.

At the end of the game, a total of MOP 3 Million (the proceeds from the charity gala dinner/auction, the gate receipts and the dollar-per-dollar that Sands China Ltd. matched for every dollar that was raised through the ticket sales) was donated to Macao Red Cross as earthquake disaster relief for the Sichuan Yaan earthquake.

After flying back to Shanghai from Macao on the 2nd, Yao Ming was again on the road on Saturday (May 4).

This time, he flew to Manila of Philippines.

His Shanghai MAXXIS Sharks team, led by team captain Liu Wei, had already arrived there on the 3rd.

He and his team were there in Manila for a friendly visit as part of the Years of Friendly Exchanges between the Philippines and China, an annual event that stemmed from an agreement in 2011 between the Philippines President Benigno Aquino III and then Chinese President Hu Jintao, to encourage more people-to-people exchanges to strengthen understanding and mutual trust.

Yao Ming and his Sharks players held a basketball clinic for the less fortunate children at the Multi-Purpose Arena of PSC-Philsports in Pasig City on Sunday, May 5.

Then on Monday (May 6) morning, accompanied by Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Ma Keqing, Yao Ming and his Shanghai Sharks players played a courtesy visit to Philippines' Vice President Jejomar Binay in the Coconut Palace in Pasay City.

They then played a pair of exhibition games with the Smart Gilas Team (Philippines' national team) on May 6, and then another game with the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Selection on May 7. Due to food poisoning/diarrhea, both Liu Wei and Liu Ziqiu did not play in both exhibition games, and the Shanghai Sharks lost both contests: 80 ~ 72 to the Philippines National Team, and 80 ~ 71 to the PBA Selection.

Some photos of the Shanghai MAXXIS Sharks players arriving Manila the night of May 3rd, as well as their first shootout practice and team scrimmage on May 4th.

The clueless Philippines media and working staff at the airport mistaken the 7ft 3 Max Zhang Zhaoxu as Yao Ming and started to interview him, and took group photos with him.
