How come you asked "what's the difference?" and now you are saying "It's different"?

Sweeet. I created an argument on grammar. This is why I love superjohn.

A signs with B doesnt equal B signs with A.
A team doesnt sign with someone, it signs someone. The player signs with the employer.
Una leccion de ingles para ti, aficionado de Gasol.

Yao Ming's Shanghai Sharks have signed with Gilbert Arenas.

Rumors were flying around yesterday that Shanghai MAXXIS Sharks had signed Gilbert Arenas, and that CCTV5 had been invited to come to Shanghai to film the first team practice/scrimmage of Gilbert Arenas with the Shanghai MAXXIS Sharks this afternoon (November 14).

But Shanghai MAXXIS Sharks and Gilbert Arenas' China agent Sha Yifeng (Yao Ming's childhood buddy) came out to dispel the rumor and said that
they're still in the final stage of negotiation, and NO contract had been signed yet.

Zhang Chi, Shanghai MAXXIS Sharks spokesperson, said the CCTV5 filming was pre-arranged long time ago, with or without Gilbert Arenas' joining.

According to Zhang Chi and Sha Yifeng, the contract negotiation is currently at the final stage, and
is now hinged on Gilbert Arenas' health condition, and there are still a couple of issues to be resolved:

  • Terms of years to be signed: 1 year, 1+1, 2+1.
  • Bonus scheme
  • Play minutes
It was said Gilbert Arenas had another operation on his knees this past February, a surgery very similar to the one that Kobe Bryant underwent in Germany in July 2011, which was a procedure that is a derivation of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy.
And it was also rumored that per doctors' advice, Gilbert Arenas' play minutes has to be controlled to under 20 minutes.

It was reported that Shanghai MAXXIS Sharks had sent Gilbert Arenas' medical check results to USA to 2 reputable NBA physicians for their further analysis and recommendations.

And subject to the doctors' analysis and recommendations, then final decision will be made to sign or not sign Gilbert Arenas.

I guess the catch here is if Gilbert Arenas cannot sustain over 30 to 35 minutes of action per game, then Shanghai MAXXIS Sharks might still have second thoughts and might not sign him.

Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank had a very disappointing season last year.

Despite splashing huge $$$$$$$ for JR Smith, they could not even make the playoff and finished 11th place in the league.

In the off season, they had made the following changes:

  • They had lured away the Head Coach Yang Xuezeng of Shanxi Fenjiu Zhongyu to become their head coach.
  • They did not further extend the contract for JR Smith.
  • They instead signed Quincy Douby who previously played for Xinjiang Guanghui Flying Tigers but missed out last season with injury.
  • They originally signed Denzel Bowles, who was MVP in the Lithuania basketball legaue, and also played in the Philippines professional league last season. But Denzel Bowles got a serious injury in preseason training. So they had signed back their previous expat power forward Josh Boone.
  • They also signed Gong Songlin from Fujian SBS Xunxin.
The full roster for Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank team is as follows:

  • Ding Jinhui
  • Tang Hai
  • Zhao Hang
  • Ju Peng

  • Cao Fei
