Geeeeeeeez, one charity after another.

Yao Ming had completed his first visit to Africa.

He had flown back to China from South Africa last night (August 23).

He transited Hong Kong, but got offloaded from business class to fly economy to Chengdu of Sichuan.

He will appear today with Caron Butler to instruct students in a mini camp at Mount Qingcheng High School in Dujiangyan, a city destroyed in the devastating Wenchuan earthquake on May 12, 2008.

He and Caron Butler will also appear in Leshan on Saturday to attend the final of the Yao Foundation Hope Primary School basketball season.

The season, launched in April, was a charity initiative by Yao's foundation. It encompasses 47 schools across Sichuan and was supported by NBA Cares.

Here are some photos of Yao Ming transiting Hong Kong and on the plane to Chengdu.

It seemed there has been a change in plan.

Yao Ming did not show up with Caron Butler this morning (August 24) in the mini camp at Mount Qingcheng High School in Dujiangyan.

Instead he showed up punctually at Leshan Normal University in Leshan of Sichuan at 09:00 am in the morning.

Over 400 students of 45 Project Hope Primary Schools in Sichuan and surrounding provinces (Yunnan, Guizhou, Qinghai) had gathered there since August 18 for a 3-day basketball clinic/camp and 4-day of competition, the final portion of the inaugural Yao Foundation Project Hope Primary School basketball league season that commenced in April.

Yao Ming made it to Leshan from Chengdu very late last night from South Africa transiting Hong Kong, and obviously with only 4 hours' sleep, he was struggling to get over his jet lag; he had some sun-burn, but he looked spiritied and excited about his baby project, toured the university facilities, stood by the court side to watch the kids compete, and chatted with volunteers and kids.

So right after his activity in a mini camp at Mount Qingcheng High School in Dujiangyan, Caron Butler of LA Clippers joined Yao Ming at Leshan Normal University at night to attend a variety show put up by the participating students.

The kids sang, danced and performed for Yao Ming and the guests; and towards the end of the show, Yao Ming came on stage, and read from a piece of paper the names of 27 students. Then he said he had surprise presents for them, as all of them were born in the month of August. Yao Ming presented each of them birthday presents, and he even led the audience to sing Happy Birthday song for the 27 kids.

So today (August 25) was the last day of the inaugural Yao Foundation Project Hope Primary School basketball league season.

A final was played to decide the champion team.

Then out of the 400 students from 45 schools that were sent there to Leshan for the training camp and competition, 2 All Star teams were chosen, with Yao Ming and Caron Butler acted as head coach for them for an exhibition game.

Caron Butler's team eventually edged Yao Ming's team 42 ~ 39.

Big Yao
presented awards for the individual players and winning teams.

Here are photos capturing how personal involved Big Yao was into this baby project of his.

You would have thought that now that his baby project the inaugural Yao Foundation Project Hope Primary School basketball league season had come to a successful closure in Leshan yesterday, Yao Ming would have left Sichuan for home and take a break after his hectic 1 month's trip to London, Africa and then Sichuan.

NOT FOR YAO MING !!! He just continues with yet another of his humanitarian work !!!

[color=darkred]This morning (August 26th), together with Caron Butler and NBA China CEO David Shoemaker, Yao Ming join Starkey Hearing Foundation's team of audiologists and staff from USA and Canada in Chengdu to participate/support, on behalf of [b]NBA Cares, Starkey Hearing Foundation's mission

I was surprised that this charity act of NBA Cares and Starkey Hearing Foundation was not given much attention from all the sports websites in China, as it is more than 6 hours away from the event, and there is still not much news and photos covering this event.

I only managed to scoop the following photos (of poor quality) from China's popular social networking website, weibo of sina.com.

Let's hope there are MORE quality photos to be made available on Internet that I could share them with you guys here later.
