Aaron Brooks continued his hot streak, and registered his consecutive double-double in leading Guangdong Dongguan Bank Hongyuan Tigers to win 106 ~ 87 away over Liaoning Jiebao. He scored 21 points (8/19 FG% 4/7 3-pointer% 1/1 FT%), 3 rebounds and 10 assists.

The game was a closely contested one in first half with both side playing 1 expat per quarter. Guangdong carved out a 9 point lead (30 ~ 21) by end of 1Q, but Liaoning erased that deficit by half time: 47 ~ 47.

But when both teams played 2 expat in the second half, the Guangdong team just demonstrated
they were perennial CBA champion for a reason, with better local players and much deeper bench. They had a 9 point lead into 3Q, and never looked back from there and ended with a 19-point win.

Other than Aaron Brooks, 5 other Guangdong players were in double-digit score.

James Singleton had a double-double: 14 points/11 rebounds/2 assists/2 block shots; Zhu Fangyu almost got a double-double, scored 14 points, had 9 rebounds and 2 assists.

Wang Shipeng and Zhou Peng
contributed 13 points apiece, while Dong Hanlin scored 11 points.

Chen Jianghua
as Aaron Brooks' backup point guard, also did well to score 8 points and dished 4 assists.

For Liaoning, only 3 players were in double-digit scoring.

Josh Powell was their top performer with 25 points (10/20 FG% 0/2 3-pointer% 5/5 FT%), 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block shot.

Rodney Carney
had a subpar game; he only scored 16 points (5/11 FG% 2/6 3-pointer% 4/4 FT%), 4 rebounds, 1 block shot.

Liu Shunan contributed 13 points (6/11 FG% 1/2 3-pointer%).

The Liaoning trio in back court (Zhang Qingpeng, Yang Ming and Guo Ailun) did not play that well;

Zhang Qingpeng sux in scoring,
wild-jacked alot of his shots, missed all his 3-pointer attempts, scored only 6 points (1/9 FG% 0/6 3-pointer% 4/4 FT%), but he sort of compensated that by dishing out 8 assists for his team mates to score.

Yang Ming had a relatively quiet game, scoring only 7 points (3/7 FG% 0/1 3-pointer%, 1/1 FT%), but dished out 6 assists.

Guo Ailun also sux in his shooting, scored 8 points (2/9 FG% 0/3 3-pointer% 4/4 FT%), 3 rebounds, 4 assists.

Han Dejun played quite efficiently, had 7 points (3/5 FG% 1/2 FT%), 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 block shots in less than 24 minutes of play.

Zhu and Zhai are not even on the allstar ballot, I heard. Is this true?

THAT'S TRUE.

CBA released/nominated a list of 85 players and a total of 10 players (5 from each region) will be voted in by Chinese fans over Internet to come up with the Southern All Stars and the Northern All Stars. CBA will then nominate another list of players (probably from the same list) for Head Coaches of the 2 teams to pick to complete 2 teams of 12 players each.

I guess all rookies are excluded from the current list of 85 players.

Good news and bad news for Yao Ming last night.

The good news
was after the biggest upset win over Xinjiang Guanghui Flying Tigers on Wednesday, the Shanghai MAXXIS Sharks hang on to yet another cliff-hanger to beat 3rd placed Shanxi Fenjiu Zhongyu 92 ~ 90.

The bad news was Ryan Forehan Kelly got injured in 4Q, which explained why having a 16-point lead somewhere in 3Q, Shanghai MAXXIS Sharks saw their lead dwindled to 2 points in 4Q, when they had to play 1 expat player versus 2 expat players of Shanxi. It's not yet known how serious Ryan Forehan Kelly's injury was.

Mike Harris was the hero again last night
with a double double of 30 points (12/27 FG% 2/4 3-pointer% 4/6 FT%), 11 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block shot.

Max Zhang Zhaoxu
also had a double-double of 15 points (5/10 FG% 5/6 FT%), 11 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 block shots.

The 2 expat players on Shanxi had awesome game; Charles Gaines scored a double-double of 21 points/13 rebounds, while Marcus Williams had 31 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists, and he almost won the game for Shanxi if not his 3-pointer cranked on the rim with less than 10 seconds left in 4Q.

A few photos of Yao Ming and Ye Li at the home game.

Stephon Marbury & Co. continued their all-conquering form to beat bottom team Tianjin Ronggang 107 ~ 101 last night to extend their winning streak to 11 ~ 0.

But they almost blew it if not for Stephon Marbury's and Zhu Yanxi's heroics.

Stephon Marbury's backup guard Lee Hsieh-lin is still out with a back injury. And that had forced Stephon Marbury to play extraordinarily long. The 4-day rest between this and last game also might have affected Beijing's form, or they sort of took too light of this Tianjin team which had a losing streak of 8.

Beijing carved out a 9 points lead by end of 1Q, but had the lead completely erased and they were falling behind 51 ~ 53 by half time.

But Beijing Jinyu Capital Steel Ducks showed some resilency, and rebounced in 3Q, and kept a lead of 5 to 6 points all through the rest of the game to eventually run out winners !!!

Stephon Marbury had an outstanding game of 35 points (12/23 FG% 4/10 3-pointer% 7/12 FT%), 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals but uncharacteristically 7 turnovers.

But the most eye-catching performance of the night must be that of Zhu Yanxi.
The rookie seldom missed his shots, scored a double-double of 26 points (12/14 FG% 2/3 3-pointer% 0/1 FT%), 11 rebounds (7 of them offensive rebounds), 1 assist.

Randolph Morris also had a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds. Zhai Xiaochuan had 6 points and 9 rebounds.

On Tianjin side, 5 players were in double-digit scoring. Both their 2 expat players got double-doubles: Donnell Harvey had 26 points/15 rebounds/3 assists/2 block shots while David Harrison had 20 points/3 rebounds/1 assist/1 block shot. Rony Fahed had 13 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Zhang Nan and Zhang Zhihan each scored 12.
