Retired Chinese NBA legend Yao Ming has been in the news in China for [color=red]one of his latest and more dubious achievements - failing the notorious Advanced Math exam at university.[/color]

Yao has been studying at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University since last October, reading subjects including finance, administration and journalism, with the Chinese public closely following his academic record.

[color=red]Now, a rumor has surfaced concerned Yao's failure of the dreaded advanced mathematics examination.

According to the rumor, Yao got '38' in the final exam of the semester in Advanced Mathematics.[/color] The full score is 100, with the pass mark set at 60.

Universally feared

Advanced mathematics is an irritant to many at Chinese universities. The course is almost universally compulsory, and is popular source of complaint even after graduation.

For this reason, many in China had awaited Yao's results in this subject with baited breath.

Several days ago, Yao appeared on a TV show to talk about his studies. Despite the host's persistent questioning, Yao refused to discuss his advanced math exam score.
