Well, I still remembered that Yao Ming appeared back in April at the BMW pavillon of the 14th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition.
http://www.yaomingmania.com/forum/viewt ... 556#398556
I was already wondering whether it was an indication that BMW China had signed him up.
It looks like they do have tied up the knots.
Yao Ming connected flight in Guangzhou for Chongqing yesterday immediately after the China Southern Airlines Airbus A380 arrived into Guangzhou.
And this morning, Yao Ming appeared in a community activity at the Lin Du Primary School at Hechuan of Chongqing organized by CCF ~ BMW Warm Heart Fund.
And later tonight, he will also be attending a charity gala thrown by CCF ~ BMW Warm Heart Fund, where there will be an announcement of a co-operation between Yao Ming foundation and CCF ~ BMW Warm Heart Fund.
So has BMW China already endorsed Yao Ming???

And in the evening, Yao Ming showed up as a Special Honorary Guest at the charity gala held by CCF ~ BMW Warm Heart Fund at the Chongqing Municipal Children's Palace to celebrate the 3rd Anniversary of the founding of the CCF ~ BMW Warm Heart Fund.
During the charity gala, Yao Ming Foundation and CCF ~ BMW Warm Heart Fund announced a major co-operation. Yao Ming Foundation entrusted CCF ~ BMW Warm Heart Fund to install their community program of BMW Home for Joy of Children (NOTE: just a straight translation of BMW 童悦之家) into 10 future Yao Ming Foundation Project Hope primary schools in Sichuan, Yunnan and Gansu; CCF ~ BMW Warm Heart Fund will undertake to build/refurnish libraries, computer and reading rooms in those Yao Ming Foundation primary schools into BMW Home for Joy of Children.
It was surprisingly a rather low-profile event with not much press coverage.
But I still managed to scoop some photos showing some group photos of Yao Ming together with Dr. Christoph Stark, president and CEO of BMW Greater China, and Wang Han, famous Chinese TV compere from Hunan Satellite TV, the Master of Ceremony of the charity gala of the evening.
Also following are photos of the BMW Home for Joy of Children community program/facilties that CCF~BMW Warm Heart Fund had established successfully in various cities in the past 3 years through donations/co-operations of the local BMW car distributors/retailers.

Big Yao is back into Shanghai from Chongqing.
And this afternoon (October 21), he and Ye Li were invited to attend a custom-made shoes activity organized by the famous Italian shoe maker: Salvatore Ferragamo. At the site, an Italian craftsman took Big Yao's measurements, and under the advice of his wife, Yao Ming picked 2 pairs of shoes (to be custom-made) and a belt.
Maybe an indication of Salvatore Ferragamo in China endorsing Big Yao as their image spokesperson???

Yao Ming left home early yesterday (October 27). He took an early flight from Shanghai to fly to the scenaric tourist city of Lijiang of Yunnan province. His plane arrived at 10:45 am in the morning.
But he was not there for sightseeing. He immediately travelled to Ninglang county, which took him a 4 to 5 hours car ride.
The car ride was a pretty bumpy one and the Volkswagen Multivan SUV the organizers had arranged for Big Yao was too small that every an hour or so, the car would have to pull over and stop awhile for Big Yao to stretch his legs. On the road a few of the farmers of Naxi minority even asked Yao Ming to take photos with them.
And in one section of the journey to Ninglang county, the road was blocked for repair and maintenance. Big Yao had to come down from his SUV van and negotiate with the workers there for them to allow the car to drive through.
Big Yao stayed over in a small hotel that had to combine 2 beds together to accommodate him. He is to visit his Yao Foundation Hope Project Primary School the Yao Foundation built there this morning (October 28 ).

Yao Ming went to visit the Ninglang ~ Yao Foundation Project Hope Primary School this morning.
This school was a refurbished one built from the original Ninglang Primary School for the minority, which was severely damaged in the 2008 May 12 Wenchuan earthquake. Yao Foundation donated 1.5 Million Renminbi for its refurnishment/reconstruction. The reconstruction started in March 2010, and completed by October 2010, and the school had then been deployed since November that year. It can now accommodate over 1,700 students with 95% of them being minority nationalities.
Yao Ming toured the facilities of the school, including its computer/multi-media teaching room, visited the school kids in their classrooms, received gifts/souvenirs from the school kids, watched minority folk dances from the kids, and even played a game of ping-pong with one of them.
He told reporters that visiting these Yao Foundation Project Hope Primary Schools gave him great sense of achievement; but he also worried that his visits would impede normal school activities for the kids. He stressed the importance of giving the best of education to the kids, particularly the minorities. He said up till now, Yao Foundation had completed 7 of such schools, and another 6 are either under construction or in planning stage. He said such projects will be a long term one for the Foundation.
