After watching the game between Zhang Ze and Jo-Wilfred Tsonga for a while, Yao Ming proceeded to Court #1 within the Beijing Olympic Green Tennis Centre to be the witness to the wedding of 8 couples who get into acquaintences and eventually fell in love because of tennis. He presented the couples with life insurance packages from China Life Insurance as well as his blessing/good-wishes for them.

Yao Ming was awarded an Outstanding Contribution Award last night (October 11, 2011) at the 6th China Top 10 Laureus Awards ceremony held in Xiangshan, Ningbo.

Feng Xiaogang (a famous movie director in China) and Andy Lau Tak Wah (famous Hong Kong actor and singer) were special guests of honor to announce the award.

Feng Xiaogang requested Yao Ming to take a photo together with him and Andy Lau; but due to their height disparity, Feng Xiaogang insisted that the photo be taken with Yao Ming stepped down a few steps from the stage to make the 3 of them looked not that different in heights. :P  :D

Edwin Moses, the chairman of Laureus World Sports Academy, who was also there in Ningbo specifically for the award ceremony, and Cui Dalin, a retired Deputy Minister of theState General Administration of Sports then went upstage to present the award to Yao Ming .

Well, the very first jumbo Airbus A380 (that China Southern Airlines ordered) was delivered from Airbus Customer Delivery Centre in Toulouse, France on October 14 (Friday).

It arrived Beijing Capital International Airport on October 15.

Then it had its first trial flight yesterday (October 16) to Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

It then had its inaugural flight this morning (October 17), flying Beijing to Guangzhou.

It will have a 2-week trial flight within domestic China (flying Beijing ~ Guangzhou ~ Beijing from October 17 ~ 26, and then Beijing ~ Shanghai Pudong ~ Beijing from October 27 ~ 29) before switching to flying international routings.

And today, Yao Ming was amongst the very first few honorable guests to fly from Beijing to Guangzhou on the A380 inaugural flight. :P
the people who saved the dog were southern chinese as well
But is there not a consistent pattern here of just inhumane callousness that seems largely confined to this specific demographic?
Surveillance video of passersby ignoring the plight of a Chinese toddler hit-and-run victim has sparked international expressions of shock and horror--together with a bout of soul-searching in Chinese society.

The video is obviously disturbing. It shows a 2-year-old girl who was run over by a van that then drove off, leaving her bleeding on the street in the city of Foshan, in China's southeastern Guandong province, on October 13. For the next seven minutes, passersby ignored the injured toddler, who was then hit by a second vehicle. So, a toddler gets hit & run over in the street...lays there for 7 minutes while bikers/pedestrians actually go over and around her...and then gets run over again...

And where AGAIN in ALL OF CHINA...does this happen??? Out of 22 Provinces...why AGAIN GUANGDONG???

I can guarantee you, if that was an iPhone - one of them would have snatched that up in .2 seconds!

But seriously, WTF IS WRONG with these SICK SE CHINESE??? Are they missing a gene or something???

Voyd

Take your INEXPLICABLE HATRED about Chinese Southerners ELSEWHERE and don't hijack
this thread which is about Yao Ming's off-court activities !!! :x

BTW, just that this incident happened in Foshan meant SH!!!!!!!!!!!T !!!

The toddler had been hit TWICE....and the first driver was a guy from Shandong, while the second driver was from Chongqing, Szechuan.

And it's COMMON SENSE/KNOWLEDGE that unless you're someone with medical knowhow or first aid knowledge, you're NOT SUPPOSED to move a seriously injured person or else it would result in more serious bleeding or bone fractures.

There you go again using any incident to spew your generalizations. This isnt the first time I've heard of these types of terrible incidences unfortunately, but it's not just segregated in one particular area. It happens elsewhere too, and it's terrible. What's worse is you're just picking up specific stories and using tragedy to support your agenda. That doesn't justify the generalization. I can't figure out if your argument is one focused on genetic or cultural either. Nonetheless you are a sick man for using a tragedy to support your stereotyping argument.

Plenty of people have been throwing generalizations against Chinese people in general as well because of this incident, since to them it appears this only happens in China. Does that mean they're correct?

As I suggested, Voyd should create a dedicated thread in the Non Yao Stuff category, and label it DAMNED !!! HOW I HATE THOSE CHINESE SOUTHERNERS !!! instead of spewing ALL OVER the places his INEXPLICABLE HATRED about Chinese Southerners thereby UNNECESSARILY HIJACK those threads. :x
