So the end of all these drama....

And the official end
of the Tracy McGrady tenure of being a Houston Rockets.

He will no longer play in a Rockets uniform.

Either a trade or a buyout or just contract expiration.

Rockets to seek McGrady deal

ESPN.com

The Houston Rockets have granted Tracy McGrady an indefinite leave from the team and will work with his representatives to find a new home for the seven-time All-Star via trade, according to sources close to the process.

Sources told ESPN.com on Monday that phone discussions between Rockets general manager Daryl Morey, coach Rick Adelman and one of McGrady's agents, Arn Tellem, led to an agreement that both sides would work together in pursuit of a palatable trade before the league's annual trading deadline on Feb. 18.

The Rockets, sources said, are adamant about not buying out the remainder of McGrady's $23 million expiring contract and enabling him to become a free agent during the season. Yet, they also remain unprepared to promise the extended minutes McGrady has been seeking.

Sources said the sides agreed Monday that the best compromise is letting McGrady leave the team to work out on his own in hopes that a deal can be struck and so his teammates and coaches will be spared from the distraction of daily questions about McGrady's status.

besides McLady, there is no other malingerer on the team.

now that Rox have removed the team cancer, the future looks brighter

most probably, YaoMing will remain a Rox 'til he retires.

Well, nig1 is just a hater. PERIOD.

YES. Yao Ming will DEFINITELY remain a Rockets till he retires.

Delusional fans like nig1 always allege that when Yao Ming returns, he will find it hard to fit in the current playing style of the Rockets.

But they conveniently forget:
Rick Adelman's O&D is NOT EXACTLY D'Antoni's O&D.

They conveniently forget, in defense, Yao Ming provides the Rockets the last line/bastion in defense. Unlike Tracy McGrady who never gave an full-out effort in defense, Yao Ming gave the Rockets assurance in rebounding and shot-blocking. He just shut down the lane, and these are things the current interior midgets of the Rockets lack.

And out from the defensive rebounding, Yao Ming could initiate fast breaks by passing the ball to his point guards in any running games.

And being a team player, Yao Ming never dominates the ball and stalls the offense the way Tracy McGrady did. There will not be a problem in ball movement and sharing the ball.

And when Big Yao returns, with the current crop of young players (Aaron Brooks, Kyle Lowry, Chase Budinger, Carl Landry) growing and maturing, the Rockets can have
different and flexible configurations/combinations in playing half-court O&D or the current uptempo pseudo run-and-gun games dependent on match-ups and game situations.

Moreover the US$ 23M salary space left by Tracy McGrady could resolve contract extensions of Luis Scola, Carl Landry, Shane Battier and maybe even add another capable player that can strengthen the overall squad strength of the Rockets.

Besides WHO would be that FOOLISH to trade away a 20/10 dominant centre/All Star player who is the face and cash cow of your franchise????

1) thinking yao ming is still a dominant 20/10 center is like thinking
Tmac can still lead the league in scoring.

2) yao ming lacks creativity to run adelman's offense. His bball IQ is
lower than Divac's.

3) Rockets are dumb to pay max $ to a past-his-prime center with a long
history of injuries who's not longer considered a franchise player (and
who folds in the playoffs)

the reality is the Rockets will give Yao an extension. However, I'm gonna call it, the Rockets will go nowhere with yao ming. He has 3 yrs of basketball left before he's done for good and toils away for the CNT. That's the truth. Him and Tmac basically wasted 5 yrs of existence in Houston. Basically it's all about economics, yao's good for Les Alexander's pockets, but bad for the team's future.
