So after striking up a winning streak of 2, the Houston Rockets travelled to Memphis to face the Grizzlies for the 3rd time in this season.
They won the first encounter in Toyota Centre in the season opener, but lost it the last time they were in Memphis with both Tracy McGrady and Ron Artest absent due to their respective injuries.
But this time both Tracy McGrady and Ron Artest had returned to the line-up.
Well, Memphis Grizzlies is one of the weaker teams in the highly competitive and strong Western Conference. They had a long losing streak of 12 before their latest win over Washington Wizards. And good news for them could be Darko Milicic, who was out of action during the entire 12-game losing streak because of a broken knuckle, may return in this game. And O.J. Mayo and Rudy Gay were recently very in-form and high-scoring.
As for the Rockets, since both Tracy McGrady and Ron Artest are back into the line-up, as long as they do not take the Grizzlies too lightly, and their stamina, particularly Big Yao's, are not affected due to the fact this is the 2nd leg of a back-to-back, they should be able to beat the Grizzlies, if they continue to show the form they are in the recent 2 games, and that is play the inside-out game, relying on Big Yao as the go-to-guy, more ball/body movement and crispy passing, less ISO stuff and tougher defense.
GO GO ROCKETS.....GO GO BIG YAO FOR A WINNING STREAK OF 3 !!!!

Lack of defense in the 1st Q, gave up 30 plus points.

1Q ended. 31 vs 31.
The Rockets were trading shot with shot with the Grizzlies.....and again they played no defense, letting the Grizzlies shooting over 60%.
IMHO, they should slow it down, control the tempo/rhythm and not to be led by the nose and played into the rhythm of the Grizzlies.

As Yao Ming is out on the bench, the Grizzlies now played to a 7 ~ 0 run. 38 vs 31.

WHY Rick Adelman did not want to use Uncle Mutombo??? Now the Rockets are too short in the interior to counter the young and athletic Grizzlies.

Just a bad last possession of the 1st half by Alston. Hog the ball for the entire time and launched a low percentage 3. Could have easily set people up. Now that's where Yao needs to step up and demand the ball. That's what's been missing as far as leadership is concerned. Sigh....
