So having won 1 and lost 2 in the recent road trip, the Houston Rockets returned to Houston to face Philadelphia 76ers.

And after sitting out for 2 of the road trip games in Detroit and New York, Yao Ming should be returning to the line-up on the home court.

This would be a very tricky game, as the Rockets lost to Philadelphia 76ers last time when they played them in Philadelphia. In that game, both Ron Artest and Shane Battier did not play. And with Tracy McGrady playing, limping around the court, wild-jacking up jumpers after jumpers, the Rockets were playing virtually no defense, and let the 76ers shot the light outs, maintaining over 55% FG% throughout, to lose that game to them.

Now Tracy McGrady returned, and after a not-so-convincing win over Detroit Pistons, they were humiliated and lost to a lowly New York Knicks, and sparked another round of locker room turmoil, when Rafer Alston called out the Big Two for playing
selfish ISO basketball instead of team basketball.

It remains to be seen whether Tracy McGrady will succumb to team pressure and try to gel and play into the systems of Rick Adelman.

But this game will be a stern test to Big Yao, as he just returns from his bruised knee, and the 76ers is known to be a young and fast run-and-gun team.

Let's hope Tracy McGrady and Ron Artest (if he is going to play) will adjust their game, let Rafer Alston play his point guard role, and the Rockets plays with the same kind of motion offense, with intensity and urgency, more ball and body movement, and improve on their porous defense such that the Rockets can start winning again.

GO GO ROCKETS GO GO BIG YAO !!!

According to what was reported on Houston Chronicle and in the various Chinese websites, the Big Fella is definitely 100% sure to return to play in this game on home court, cos

  • He no longer feels pain/soreness in his right knee and is ready to return
  • The team needs him
  • And the fans paid to see him play as it is the Chinese New Year Celebration Day in Toyota Centre today.

And it's highly probable that Ron Artest will also be playing, as he felt much better with his ankle after 2 days' rest.

So we might have a full strength Rockets: Yao Ming, Tracy McGrady, Ron Artest and Shane Battier playing together for the
3rd time together for this season.

)(*&^%$#@&*)(*&^%$#@)(*&^%$#@

That's how Rockets lost game.

26 vs 22 4 point lead with 20 some seconds left in 1Q.

Tracy McGrady did not chase Louis Williams and let him score a trey out from the arc.

Then McGrady took the ball up, dribbled away the shot clock, and then got his shot blocked in a lame lay-up, and another easy lay-up from Louis Williams from the fast break.........

5 points turnaround in 20 seconds.

1H ended. 27 vs 26, Philadelphia 76ers led.

5:18 HOU - R. Artest offensive rebound
5:18 HOU - Layup by R. Artest
5:19 HOU - L. Scola misses a layup
5:24 HOU - L. Scola steals the ball from A. Iguodala
5:46 HOU - Layup by L. Scola. Assist: A. Brooks
5:51 HOU - A. Brooks defensive rebound
5:52 PHI - A. Miller misses a 19-foot jumper from the left wing
6:10 HOU - Reverse layup by S. Battier. Assist: R. Artest

With Tracy McGrady sitting his @r$e on the bench, the Rockets played with
more ball and body movement leading to more fluid offense and easy buckets, and now the 2nd unit carved out a 6 points lead. 43 vs 37.

1H ended. 51 vs 45.... 6 points lead by the Rockets.

The Rockets played pretty bad shooting <40> 60% FG% at some point in 1Q).

Luckily the 76ers had almost double the numbers of turnovers than the Rockets, and their 3-pointers ain't falling.

So the Rockets managed to hang on a slender 6 points lead by half time.

Yao needs to get into good positions instead of letting his defender front him all the time.

Yao needs to grab some rebounds regardless.
