Read the following article from Zhang Yi of Sohu.com.

http://sports.sohu.com/20080327/n255945919.shtml

According to what Zhang Yi wrote, quoting Daryl Morey, General Manager of the Houston Rockets, a couple of updates that might be of interest to you all.

  • Carroll Dawson, currently consultant for Houston Rockets, had been asked to assist Big Yao in his rehabilitation.

  • Yao Ming also joined hand with Carroll Dawson on a project currently, which is reviewing/editing/analysing game replay video of the Houston Rockets and other teams. According to Morey, that would help Yao Ming to keep up his focus and alertness to the game, such that upon his return, he could gel quicker with his team mates and bring back more positive things to the team.

  • According to Morey, Big Yao is rehabilitating well; he came back to Toyota Centre unceasingly and persistently for his rehabilitation almost on a daily basis. He originally requested that he could come to every of Rockets' home game to rave and support his team mates on the bench, but his request was rejected by the doctors, cos it is deemed that it is not yet suitable that he moved too much around by the courtside, which had sort of upset Big Yao and made him unhappy.

  • He came to this game with Minnesota Timberwolves with special approval/greenlight from the doctors, as he wanted to come specifically to join this celebration/recognition ceremony of Uncle Mutombo.

  • He will also show up tomorrow night in the Annual Houston Rockets Tux and Tennies Charity Gala to show his support to Uncle Mutombo as all donations/auctions proceeds of the Gala will go to Uncle Mutombo's Foundation.
So stay tuned for all my coverage/photos of the Tux & Tennies Charity Gala !!

So while the Rockets are away on their tough 5-games-in-8-days road trip, Yao Ming is working in the gym under the supervision of his personal trainer Anthony Falsone on his strength and conditioning..... Cool

This ain't April Fool Day's joke !! Razz

But it seems like Big Yao is recovering ahead of schedule.....

Mengke Bateer just returned from Houston over the weekend, and while acting as the guest commentator for the Rockets versus San Antonio Spurs game on Beijing TV, Bateer disclosed that Yao Ming had been putting in a lot of effort in the strength and conditioning of his upper limbs in the gym at Toyota Centre (as evidenced by all the photos I provided above), and also spent alot of time jogging in the swimming pool at the backyard of his home.

Yao Ming may return in June

Chinese basketball star Yao Ming may come back to normal training as early as in June if everything goes smoothly, sohu.com reports. Yao's teammate on the national team, Mengke Bateer, revealed the timetable in an interview with the website, saying the star will take about four months to recover.

Bateer said the optimal result will be that Yao will be able to start intensive training when the NBA finals kick off in June.

He said the Houston Rockets center has been doing special training to help regain strength in his legs.

The practice required Yao to try to jog on the same spot in water against pull force with a string tied on his waist from behind, Bateer explained.

Yao was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left foot on February 27 and underwent operation in early March. The rockets have confirmed the center player can return to match before the start of the Beijing Olympics in August.

Yao averaged 22 points and 10.8 rebounds this season and led the team to a 12 winning streak before the injury, which was later extended to 22.

Is this for real? if this is true... Yao could be recovered 100% for the Olympics!
