Yao and his family were raised by milllions of taxpayers in China. From his father and mother to him, China gov used a lot of money which was all from millions of taxpayers in China to give the family special support from food to house, to car to awards to everything!
Thanks to communist, Yao and his family can have such a special life! But what those taxpayers get back? NOTHING! THey are working day and night to earn only around 1000RMB (around 120USD) per month. Some even can't afford their medical expense when they are old, simply wait for death at home.....miserable life in China.
We can see some inside story even from this link:

Yao pays part of his NBA salary to the CBA, that is how Yao is paying back to the taxpayers. Don't you know already, you little clown?

This is true.
Why is everyone getting so angry when he's just expressing an opinion? This isn't China; people can speak their minds in this forum. It's sad that you can't take criticism of the CCP, a government you didn't even vote into power.

All athletes receive funding from the Chinese government. Yao is paying part of his NBA salary to the CBA and that is how Yao is paying back to the taxpayers.

It's not an opinion. It's idiocy. Yao paid several million back. You can't tell me it cost millions to train an athlete for 10 years.

Of course, this is a free forum where posters can post and speak out their minds.
IF NOT, do you think you can STILL be now posting in split personalities of Joey85 and PaidInFull, and that all your posts were centred around criticizing China/Chinese ???
Beside, as tharock and SuperJohn pointed out correctly, 1China has not posted an opinion. All he/she aimed to do was quoting some idiocy/China conspiracy theory from that book of Brook Larmer "Operation: Yao Ming", to which, alot of us already know those were CRAPS that Brook Larmer wrote.
http://www.yaomingmania.com/forum/viewt ... ht=#211778
As to Yao Ming and family living on taxpayers money ??? Man....that is how the Chinese sports systems work. So BIG DEAL. Besides, as Superjohn and Tharock pointed out correctly, Yao Ming had paid back most of what he owed his government for all the raising thru his salary, plus he was playing non-stop basketball all year round in the summers to lead his country to various honours on the basketball court. And he is looked upon and well respected as a role model, a professional basketball player in NBA, gaining all the positive image, reputation and public relationship for his country. What else can one ask for MORE from this young man ??
