The name for that guy is Arthur Ting, and not Andrew Ting. |

I don't know about Dr. Ting's legitmacy though...two years ago when I ruptured my achilles tendon I went to Dr. Ting also, he wanted to operate me the night of (in our opinion just wanted money) and was very business mind like and rushy, not the caring I wanted from a doctor...so I end up in Stanford Hospital by head of pediatric Dr. Chou, she was great...my high school who's head of residence at Stanford Orthropedic also said that Dr. Ting has a history of bad reputation...he even does commericals for his practice late night, you can see it in the bay area...in his office there are numerous pictures of atheletes that he's worked on but I didn't find that guy to be the most caring doctor...wonder why Yao went to him? Any idea?

The super star had just undergone an ankle surgery and returned home on Monday in preparations for the September Asian Championships.
No matter Yao goes onto the court or not, a star-studded Chinese team will take on other continental champions in the Stankovic Cup tournament.
The tournament features five champion teams from all the continents and the Olympic champion Argentina.
Basketball fans in Beijing will have a good feast from July 26 to 31.
China's itinerary at the Stankovic Continental Champions Cup is as follows:
July 26, 21:30 China vs Angora
July 27, 19:30 China vs Lithuanian
July 29, 19:30 China vs Porto Rico
July 30, 21:30 China vs Argentina

GoodFellow
You said in an earlier post that Yao Ming is not fat.
But look at this photo....the double chin !!! Obviously he has gained weights with all the bed rest. It will take some works from Anthony Falsone to get him back into competitive shape and form.
Seriously Pry, that pic look sooo fake.... |

Just wish to update you guys on what Yao Ming did on the night of 11th after returning from USA.
The following were gathered from 2 to 3 different articles on sina.com and sohu.com.
On the night of 11th, Yao Ming, Liu Wei and 2 of his old pals from Shanghai Sharks (Liu Peng who is now the coach of the youth team of Shanghai Sharks, who used to be his room mates in Shanghai Sharks, and team doctor, Fei Genwei) went out to have dinner at a Japanese restaurant near the Tiantan Athlete Apartment.
Yao Ming just ordered a beef noodle and a few pieces of salmon, and a cup of ice water. He said he had gained weight, and had to start monitoring his weights/diets.
The old pals then chatted about old days in Shanghai Sharks, as well as about his injury.
When Yao Ming wanted to check the bill, he found out that his credit card had busted. He had hosted a lobster dinner for Miao Lijie and some of his friends in San Francisco the day before he flew back to China. That dinner costed him US$ 380....but had busted his credit card. (Note: Yao Ming could be still using a Chinese "credit" card in USA, which is actually a debit card...or else I would think US$ 380 is too low a limit for him). The Japanese dinner costed RMB 466....and since he had yet to exchange some RMB, Liu Wei picked up the bill for the 4 of them.
After their dinner, Yao Ming went back to his room together with Liu Wei (Note: they share room at the Tiantan Athlete Apartment).
While doing his therapy with the Game Ready Accelerated Recovery Systems on his ankle, Yao Ming and Liu Wei started a war game on the PS2. After his therapy, he shared the equipment with Liu Wei, as Liu Wei had also twisted his ankle the day before Yao Ming came back. They then went to bed to rest shortly afterwards. |

On the morning of July 12th, Yao Ming woke up early, and went to the stadium together with his national team mates.
It was the last day of the national team training in Beijing, as they would dpeart morning of the 13th to JinJiang, Fujian for a 4-Nations Tournament with national teams from New Zealand, Lithuania and a USBA team.
Yao Ming did not join the training as such. He was there to greet Jonas Kazlauskas and some of the CBA officials. Jonas Kazlauskas told Yao Ming to take as much rest as possible, and needed not hurry to make it back to the national team. He hinted that if at all possible, he wished that Yao Ming could travel together with the team to Harbin (July 20 ~ 22) to observe and learn about the game plan/set plays of the national team.
Yao Ming then requested CBA officials to make the necessary arrangement with the stadium that he could while the national team is away in Fujian can show up any time in the stadium for his light exercise/strength and power training and water treatment.
After all that, Yao Ming started some light exercise of his feet. He no longer felt pain, but still found it tough running. He then went to the gym to do some weight lifting to train his upper limbs.
In the afternoon, he went back into the gym again for the strength and power training. Obviously he is very eager to get back into competitive shape and form. |

Thank you pruyuen for your summaries! It is funny that Yao,
who must be by far the richest of the four, should have trouble
with his credit card limit. Yao must have been really embarassed. |

On July 13th, Yao Ming had his first media day with reporters and chatted with his fans over Internet at sohu.com where he talked about
His view on Stromile Swift, Andrew Bogut, Ha Seungjin, Shaquille O'Neal.
- He thought that Stromile Swift would be a good fit for the Rockets, and that he had confidence in Jeff Van Gundy knowing that JVG selected players with a purpose.
- He thought Andrew Bogut should have a relative smooth rookie season when compared with himself, as he should have gained much experience thru 4 years of NCAA basketball.
- He thought Ha Seung-jin had been working very hard and had made great progress and is no longer the player he met in the Asian Championship 2 years ago. He thought highly of him.
- On Shaquille O'Neal, he still thought that he is the Most Dominant Ever centre; he chatted about Shaq with Mutombo often; even Mutombo thought Shaq is a tough nut to crack when they competed with each other at their prime.
He also talked about his relationship and how he felt about Steve Francis, T-Mac, Bob Sura and Mutombo.
- He said he still missed Steve Francis who he thought is creative and flashy and played with his own style.
- He siad T-Mac is a great player, with great talents and skills. He and T-Mac had started to build a better rapport and understanding on court, as well as a good personal relationship off court. But T-Mac, like him, is a very quiet player, unlike Steve Francis who is a chatterbox.
- As for Bob Sura, Yao Ming thought Sura has a great season with the Rockets. With Sura injured in the early season, the Rockets had a bumpy start. He thought Sura was instrumental and contributive to the 50-win season, and there are not too many NBA guards can rebound like Sura.
- For Mutombo, he had only respect. He said Mutombo had helped him alot. He asked Mutombo a lot of questions and they watched match video together as Mutombo explained and taught him a lot. He paid credit to Mutombo for his increase in block shots towards the end of the season.
He chatted about his own performance of the season.
- When asked about the reason for his reduced numbers of rebounds, he confessed that he has not been aggressive in snatching rbounds, and he still had problems in the positioning and timing...but he is now working on it to improve his rebounding.
- When asked about his high number of fouls and wrong referee calls, he hinted like every other leagues, there are preferential treatments for star players in NBA, and the main reason for his high numbers of fouls is due to he wants to play a more active role in defense and has tried hard on help defense.
- When asked whether he had an arguement/disagreement with T-Mac in Game 4 of the playoff and whether he felt happy at the Rockets, he denied the rumour, and said he felt happy playing in the Rockets towards the end of the season when compared to the beginning of the season, which had to be due to the increasing number of wins.
- When asked whether he should increase the speed of his lateral movement, he felt that by increasing his lateral movement could increase the risk of walking. But then if he can do that, it could help him to avoid many defensive fouls, and alternatively if he could be quicker, he could create many fouls from the opponents.
- When asked whether he had made any 3-pointers, he said so far his 3-pointer attempts was 4. 2 of them were desperate shots with the clock run down. He made 1 out of the other 2, which he though was a very high percentage.
He was asked when he will get married (with Ye Li). He said it is too early to talk about marriage, as they are both young and are still professional players playing for their teams and country. |
