GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ HOW could SOMETHING LIKE THAT happened ???

In conjunction with NBA, Tencent had taped a video of various NBA stars to say a few congratulatory words to basketball fans in China wishing them Happy Chinese Lunar New Year.

And Philadelphia 76ers' JJ Redick for
SOME INEXPLICABLE REASONS said something like that:

"I just want to wish all of the NBA ch*nk fans in China, a very happy Chinese New Year,"

HOW could NBA and Tencent televise that video WITHOUT DETAIL CHECK and let it be PUBLICLY BROADCASTED ???

And JJ Redick immediately issued a public apology for it over Twitter.

But his EXCUSE of being TONGUE-TIED is AT BEST a VERY LAME AND INSINCERE ONE !!!

Probably JJ Redick relaized HOW SERIOUS his slur had offended the Chinese fans.

He issued a
second public apology on Twitter explaining what actually happened and asked for forgiveness.

do native Chinese know that's a slur? Like if he said it on the streets of Beijing would he get smacke for it? I mean I understand maybe not hearing it at the moment when you're in rush to record but whoever edited the video should've heard it easy right? Unless they didnt know it was bad.

And right after JJ Redick's first public apology, Jeremy Lin published the following message on his Twitter SORT OF DEFENDING AND BAILING OUT JJ Redick saying he had long talk with JJ Redick over the phone about the incident, and he believed JJ Redick was not a RACIST and was UNINTENTIONAL EVEN IF he had used the word.

Jeremy said he had also discussed the issue with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and David Shoemaker CEO of NBA China, and both agreed that the word should never be used by any NBA players and Chinese fans should be given the equality and respect they deserved.

He vowed he will work to make all NBA coworkers and US fans to further cherish the beauty of traditional Chinese culture, and understand the importance of China to the sports of basketball.

He then pleaded CALM AND INCLUSIVITY from the fans over JJ Redick and the issue.

Lol yes they know it’s a slur. Dude Chinese are not like Asian Americans, they don’t just accept bullshit.

Also the CCP is not stupid. They have tens of thousands of propagandists, counter intelligence and influencers not only in China but in the US, Korea Japan as well. Do you think anything we do on this forum is unique? Asians ***** about the racism in the US all the time and the CCP obviously does not give a ****** about the actual racism nor about Asian Americans but they have taken full notes where useful as propaganda

In China it’s not about racism it’s about nationalism. Even in this case one of the major points of outrage was that Redick made this slur and dishonored “Chinese New Year” in essence a disregard for Chineee Culture that all whites should now respect as reflecting Chinas economic power as much as for the ethnic slur.

Pryuen can explain the following in more detail. And nothing exists on the Chinese internet without CCP approval and guidance but Chinese slavishly follow the US. Since there are woke blacks and woke Americans there necessarily are “woke” Chinese who contantly ***** all the things we do ***** about here about how racist the US is how Chinese need to go to China to get a fair shake. It’s not a large percent maybe 10% but “America is racist” is definitely a presence on the Chinese internet and many ppl are aware of it

Of course the difference is that in China it’s not about racism and they really couldnt care less about the actual hardship of AA it’s more inline with the campaigns the CCP has against its neighbors. Just like the CCP constantly inserts warnings and disincentives so Chinese don’t get too into Koop or Japanese culture, “racism” is a way to vaccinate at least a portion of the Chinese masses from idolizing too much America, or comparing to the deficiencies of the CCP or life in China

You can see the practical workings of this in mal. Who has literally self indoctrinated or self lobotomized... everything wrong with China, mal blames on US media or American racism.

So yes they know what ***** means. The average Chinese is low EQ and amoral when it comes to most of the ****** we care about in the US but they at least understands that it is a disrespect of Chinese culture or nationalism, even if they personally don’t care about racism or discrimination towards others (even other Chinese)

As for the original point the guy clearly said *****. It’s pretty damn awesome that the team and the NBA doesn’t care enough about Chinese fans to even catch a slur and publishes it in their faces. Why are Chinese even following the NBA? Watching a dying sport thinking it’s cool because it was popular in developed countries 20 years ago

Well, you're RIGHT that EXTREME nationalism is FAR FAR SEVERE in China than racism.

Just to give you a VERY VERY STUPID AND EXTREME example.

The extremely popular and well-like international top fashion model Liu Wen 刘雯 was BOMBARDED TO DEATH by angry nationalistic netizens when she posted a photo of her and Rupert Murdoch's ex-wife Wendi Deng celebrating Chinese New Year together on her Instagram.

All she did was posting
Happy Lunar New Year.

Image

There is ACTUALLY NOTHING WRONG for her posting that
...... but those very narrow-minded netizens just severely bashed her for NOT posting Happy Chinese New Year, but instead Lunar New Year, alleging she did that just to please/woo the Japanese, Koreans and Vietnamese.

NBA's not a dying sport, tv revenue is higher than ever, didn't you see how salaries exploded last summer? Average players getting 15-20 mill a year now.

Back the point, this isn't about the team and the NBA, he was asked to say happy chinese new year by Chinese nba reporters with Tencent. They're the one that missed it and published, not the nba.

THIRD PUBLIC APOLOGY from JJ Redick, STILL INSISTING it was a MISHAP, a SLIP OF TONGUE, and TOTALLY UNINTENTIONAL and that the word was not in his vocabulary.
