players arrested in China

Three UCLA men's basketball players -- including LiAngelo Ball, the younger brother of Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball -- were arrested in China just days before Friday's season-opening game against Georgia Tech in Shanghai, sources told ESPN's Jeff Goodman.

One source told ESPN the group of players -- which also included freshmen Cody Riley and Jalen Hill -- were arrested on shoplifting charges.

The players are being questioned about stealing from a Louis Vuitton store that is located next to the team's hotel in Hangzhou.

A source tells ESPN the players are not currently with the team.

UCLA released a statement: "We are aware of a situation involving UCLA student-athletes in Hangzhou, China. The University is cooperating fully with local authorities on this matter, and we have no further comment at this time."

LaVar Ball, his wife Tina and LaMelo Ball were having breakfast with the UCLA team in Shanghai on Wednesday morning. LaVar Ball was expected to address the media later Wednesday, his representative said.

One source told ESPN that nearly 20 police officers came into the Hyatt Hangzhou at approximately 8 a.m. local time Tuesday and spoke to multiple players from both Georgia Tech and UCLA. The players, according to the source, were kept in a room for hours and not allowed to speak to any of the coaches.

"They weren't messing around," the source told ESPN. "The kids were scared."

The Georgia Tech players were allowed to leave the room hours later, and the UCLA players were seen getting into a police vehicle around 1 p.m. local time, according to the source.

Georgia Tech released a statement to ESPN on Tuesday, saying that three of their players were questioned by local authorities at their hotel.

"During the questioning, it was determined that Georgia Tech student-athletes were not involved in the activities being investigated," Georgia Tech said in the statement. "They have resumed their scheduled activities in advance of Saturday's season opener versus UCLA in Shanghai."

The teams are scheduled to visit Shanghai Disney Resort on Wednesday.

ESPN's Arash Markazi contributed to this report.

The MOST EMBARRASSING PART was both teams were in Hangzhou visiting Alibaba's headquarter, and before the shoplifting event took place, the UCLA team was seen here practicing with Joe Tsai, Brooklyn Nets' new minority owner in Alibaba's stadium !!!

YOU'RE AN IDIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIOT, RIGHT ???

The video I linked was Joe Tsai was seen practing his shooting together with the UCLA team in an Alibaba facility in Hangzhou !!!

Joe Tsai is the co-founder of Alibaba. He's the new 49% minority share owner of Brooklyn Nets. He works/lives in Hangzhou, the headquarter of Alibaba.

Both NCAA teams of UCLA and Georgia Tech were invited to visit Alibaba's headquarters in Hangzhou, before they will play against each other in Shanghai tomorrow for the
FIRST EVER NCAA regular season game in China.

THAT'S WHY those US university kids were in Hangzhou, and WHY the shoplifting happened in Hangzhou and NOT in Shanghai.

Apparently, one pair of sunglasses was shoplifted, so 2 of the 3 players are "innocent". Will be interesting to see how this plays out...

the other 2 are co-conspiractors.

All these 3 dumb sh its, should they get back to CONUS, most probably, UCLA revoke their scholarships

should they be jailed in China, UCLA revoking their scholarships in absentia
would not be out of the question.

The three U.C.L.A. men’s basketball players who were entangled in an international incident in China that compelled President Trump to get involved admitted on Wednesday that they had shoplifted in Hangzhou. They were suspended from the team indefinitely.

LOL !!!!

The DUMB BALL SENIOR pulled his son off from UCLA complaining the INDEFINITE BAN on LiAngelo Ball was TOO SEVERE as his son was found NOT GUILTY and allowed to leave China.

https://sports.yahoo.com/ucla-grateful- ... 32212.html

He just kept on blah blah blah complaining that the media tries “to make a big deal out of nothing", and seemingly forgot that his son WAS GUILTY for shop-lifting in China, but freed from China thanks to the intervention of two of the most powerful world leaders.

And now he said he will try to find ways for LiAngelo Ball to be drafted in the 2018 NBA Draft.

WHICH team would like to take on the NOT-SO-GIFTED LiAngelo Ball who seems good in stealing ???

Also Senior Ball is also ruining his youngest son LaMelo's amateur status and collegiate eligibility
by releasing a signature shoe as well as using his image and name in promotion of his Big Baller Brand.

DUMB BALL !!! I guess we can forget these Balls !!!
