From 1947-1991
1st tier: Capitalist countries
2nd tier: Socialist countries
3rd tier: Other countries

Mao and Chinese people always think they are 3rd-world people

actually Mao 3 worlds theory is different from the 3 world theory that your wrote.

Yours actually came from the cold world with the soviet/US divide.

Mao 3 world theory has US and Soviet as first world, Europe and Japan as 2nd, Africa, South America and Asia (not Japan) as 3rd.

Mao 3 world is more in tune to rising against colonialism.

Anyway both are outdated and their context has changes.

Capitalist world is basically the G7 today.
Socialist world is Shanghai Pact today-India.

It's not out of date today.
Although the trending after the Great Recession is G20.

The whole 3rd world theory is out of date.

Firstly Mao ideology is no longer relevant in today China. Maoist anarchist ideology is precisely the opposite of the stability China is trying to achieve. CCP denounce left communism after Mao's death.

China pushing the belt and road initiative is another example of Mao ideology being out of date in China.

Now that we get Mao 3 world theory out of the way.

For the 3 world from the cold war which you describe between capitalism and socialism, they are now gone. Outside maybe north Korea, there isn't really any socialist country left.

If you want to force feed Shanghai pact or the more relevant alliance of Russia, China and Iran, China will be 1st or 2nd world but I doubt anyone will use the old 3 world to describe the new cold war divide.

Today, the term 3rd world is used in the context of economic development. Which again makes the 3 world theory out of date.

My GDP has gone down too. Expect GDPs around the world to go down. The Great Depression Part 2 is coming.
