[quote]China's J-20 stealth fighters with domestic engines dazzle crowd at Airshow China opening

The 13th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, or Airshow China 2021, kicked off in Zhuhai, South China's Guangdong Province, on Tuesday, with dazzling aerial performances, highlighted by two J-20 stealth aircraft making their debut with domestically built engines.

After 10 years, fist time ever, the first J20 to have domestic WS-10 engines.

First, China could not get its hand on anymore AL-31 engines due to extortion by the russians to peg the engine deal to more SU-35 which China really don't need.

Second, WS-15 fails like I pointed out all along.

Missing also the C919.

China just sent a record 38 fighter planes into Taiwan airspace on national day. And 77 planes into Taiwan airspace over a 2 day period.

[quote]The skies over the South China Sea

What weeks of mass air force incursions into Taiwan's air defence identification zone say about China’s airpower

Because the identification numbers of each Chinese aircraft are not always known, it’s difficult to tell whether the same planes from the same bases are being used for ADIZ missions over and over. The planes’ transponder data, which would show what bases they fly from, is rarely public. But the pressure such missions are putting on both Taiwan’s air force and the PLAAF is clear. Taiwan’s air force had several mishaps, including three fatal crashes, in 2021. In March, a senior Taiwanese official said they had stopped intercepting every Chinese aircraft. The wear and tear of repeated flights can also take a toll; the engines in Chinese fighter planes have a lifespan only about one-fourth that of a U.S. fighter, according to Ken Allen, former research director for the U.S. Air Force’s China Aerospace Studies Institute.

My point all along.

China PLAAF little or no improvement in their operational capibilites exposed by their incursion into Taiwan.

Canto victory.
