Look at what Nasa has done for us. Nasa spin-off have created so much, from homes, transportation, medical, farming, food... so much so that they actually make money in return

I am all about distributing wealth, but I look at the space program as a collective advancement of the human race. Good thing for china to pick up slack from the US.

Space program is not just some instant gratification. I remember playing sid-meier's civilisation back in the days where colonizing space is a more satisfying end game then conquering the world.

To move the country forward (and to solve poverty) technology must advance. A space program is a great way to advance that technology. It's a no brainer.
