This has to be THE BIGGEST BREAKING NEWS of today in sports in China !!!
It was first reported on one of China's most circulated and infleuntial sports newspapers Basketball Pioneer today, and then on various major newspapers and websites, including Xinhua News Agency, the official news agency for China.
The State General Administration of Sports 国家体育总局 had recently a change of hand; previous Director Liu Peng had stepped down (retired?), and the new Director is Gou Zhongwen.
As usual, a new broom sweeps clean 新官上任三把火, it was reported the new director had ordered his sub-ordinates to work out a reform plan for Chinese basketball, and in the new plan, there was this 10 guidelines to be passed on to Chinese Basketball Association, and 2 of them were about Yao Ming.
The State General Administration of Sports intends to appoint Yao Ming to be the chairman of Chinese Basketball Association as well as the new head coach of the Chinese National Team !!!
The news had yet to be confirmed, but nevertheless had aroused deep interest amongst Chinese netizens, heatedly debating in various sports websites and forums over Internet.
VERY INTERESTING AND EXCITING DEVELOPMENT for Chinese basketball I would say, and personally think it will be GREAT if Yao Ming can become CBA chairman, but I held reservations for him to become the head coach for the national team, cos a great basketball player may not necessarily be a good coach, and the dual-capacity responsibility will be TOO MUCH for the already busy Big Yao !!!
What do you guys think ???Quote: 2017-01-02

Report: Yao Ming suggested head of CBA and national team
Yao Ming, a Chinese basketball star, has been suggested to head the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) and Chinese national basketball team by China's General Administration of Sport.
The news is still yet to be confirmed, reports thepaper.cn.
According to the 'Basketball Pioneers' report, the sports administration has given 10 instructions on the future development of men's basketball in China, two of which refer to Yao Ming.
The first one suggests Yao Ming be CBA Chairman.
Yao's excellent basketball ability and his experience in the NBA make him the best candidate.
The suggestion, although unconfirmed, has seen support among Chinese netizens.
There may be a conflict of interest, however, as Yao is an investor in the Shanghai's basketball team.
Another suggestion is that the sports administration wants to invite Yao Ming to be the head coach of the Chinese men's national basketball team.
The daily affairs of the CBA will be taken charge of by the secretary-general, says the 'Basketball Pioneers' report, and Yao can still coach the national team even if he is the CBA Chairman.
The second suggestion has not seen a lot of support by netizens, as they think Yao doesn't have the experience to coach a team.
Yao Ming heads a company set up by 18 CBA clubs which hope to bring changes to basketball in China. There are still many issues to resolve between the company and the CBA on the reform's direction.

Yao Ming should take the role of not only basketball ministry, but also the badminton, swimming, athletics, volleyball, soccer and tennis ministry.
As we know there are currently inept people who are in charge. Yao Ming is the best hope we have right now.

LOL !!!
YOU'RE AN IDIIIIIIIIIIOT !!!
Yao Ming AIN'T SUPERMAN !!!
It's often STRONGLY CRITICIZED that in Chinese sports, athletes of different sports were put in charge for sports that they were unfamiliar with 外行领导内行. Yao Ming has indepth knowledge of basketball, knows how to run a basketball club well, and he has good reputation and connections within the basketball circle, and therefore he probably has the CREDIBILITY AND CAPABILITY to be Chairman of CBA, but he does not know badminton, swimming, athletics, volleyball, soccer and tennis.

Yao Ming should move further up the command chain. He should be the head of the whole sports ministry (and then as vice secretary for culture ministry and even as vice secretary for state affairs), which is above the ministries for each specific sport.
That way Yao Ming can make sure there is no mismanagement or inept officials who just sit there and do nothing effective for sports.

The ministry of State Affairs is just another name for the State Council. Li Keqian is the Premier of the State Council.
Who is this Gou Zhongwen 苟仲文, who is unknown from Yao Ming's perspective.
wahahahahaha, Yao Ming too young or inexperienced? Age should not be a factor. All these other officials are mostly inept anyway.
