BEIJING, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- BEIJING, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- The Chinese government finalized its list of national political advisers, which includes former NBA star Yao Ming and action movie star Jackie Chan.

Mo Yan, who won the Nobel Prize for literature last year, was among the members of the 11th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, which was adopted Friday by the CPPCC's National Committee.

The committee is made up of 2,237 members who come from all walks of life, including members of non-Communist political parties, China's official Xinhua news agency said.

The group will attend next month's opening of the National People's Congress.

This is the first step before Yao Ming can effectively change the sports system.

Well.....JUST THE OPPOSITE !!!

THAT EFFECTIVELY ENDED ALL THE HOPES of Yao Ming being able to change the sports systems of China.

To be able to make EFFECTIVE changes to the sports systems of China, Yao Ming needs to become a sports official, say CBA Commissioner, or Minister of the State General Administration of Sports.

Active on-the-job ministerial level of senior officials of any governmental units
NEVER comes out of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee. CPPCC National Committee is mainly for those RETIRED CCP officials/ministers, or delegates from a range of other political parties and organizations, as well as independent members.

YEAH....members in CPPCC National Committee can submit proposals, but they're WITH NO POWER and in NO POSITION TO ENSURE their proposed changes will be implemented.....and RARELY their proposals are implemented, cos alot of times, the changes they proposed could be AGAINST the vested interests of the officials in power.

Well, Yao Ming has money and he can pay for the reforms to be implemented. For example, he can invite the CBA officials to banquets and wine and dine with them. Yao has restaurants, hotels and produces wines. Yao Ming can also give extra incentives to them.

LOL !!! You're SO SIMPLE and NAIVE !!!

The senior officials have SO MANY OTHERS that wine and dine them ALREADY.

Most of the officials who are in power do not NECESSARILY think long term for the sports they are in control; in fact, alot of them came into the position knowing NOTHING about the sports. They just continue with the current systems, take whatever benefits (monetary or non-monetary) from sponsors or enterprises that wish to get involved into their sports, get good results with athletes winning medals/international honors, then when their assignment is over, move on and be promoted to more senior posts in the State General Administration of Sports or to some other governmental units.

REVOLUTIONARY CHANGES to their territories are the LAST THINGS ON EARTH they would look for, as either they don't want to rock the boat, or they just don't give a damn !!!

Well this is the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee.

Stephen Chow is with the CPPCC Guangdong Provincial Committee.

Yao Ming was nominated into the Shanghai Committee for 1 year..... and then promoted to the National level.
