You didn't even realize the importance of Yao mentoring Max Zhang. This issue deserves its own thread.

Big Yao had been doing that for the past season whenever he had time to spend with the Shanghai MAXXIS Sharks.

That's WHY Max Zhang Zhaoxu played pretty well in the second half of the season.

But it's of not much use as Max Zhang's fundamental skills is just
AS POOR AS that of Su Wei, as both started playing basketlball late.

And in the national team, it's Du Feng who is the assistant coach for the interior players.

SO BIG DEAL !!!

Max Zhang has proved his rebounding and scoring skills when he played in the NCAA games.

Max Zhang has proved his rebounding and scoring skills when he played in the NCAA games. It is the responsibility of Yao Ming to pass his skills to all young big Chinese players.

Max Zhang Zhaoxu had been wasting his development years at NCAA: OFTEN got DNP, SELDOM had a chance to play as the starting centre, often played less than 10 minutes, and just averaged 3 points/2.5 rebounds.

And you called that he had proven his scoring and rebounding skills????

Max zhang, and also Jeremy Lin, were trained with other NCAA level players, which are way better than Yao's Shanghai CBA team.
If Max zhang stayed in the CBA, before going to UC Berkeley, that woould have been a waste of time.
