According to the official press conference of the Liang Hui aka Two Sessions yesterday, it was disclosed that the proposal submitted by Yao Ming last year (about cancelling the requirements for sport event approval by the State General Sports Administration) has been adopted by the State Council (Document No. 46), and this proposal will be reflected in this year's government work report.

Later when asked by reporter on a CCTV interview about how he felt for this "achievement", Yao Ming humbly said he was pleased that his proposal had been adopted, but this is just a tiny first step of the Long March towards his blue-print on how to improve sports in China.

When asked whether he will submit new proposal this year, he said his new proposal is in his bag, and he will present it in the CPPCC meeting a few days later, and it will be about how to improve and better carry out physcial education in schools/universities, a proposal he worked out based on researches undertaken in various cities and provinces he visited last year.

The CPPCC session opened this afternoon at the People's Great Hall in Beijing.

Unlike yester-years, Liu Xiang showed up to attend the opening ceremony of CPPCC.

As he approached the People's Great Hall, crowds of reproters rushed forward to greet him and bombed him with questions.

The clever Liu Xiang then pointed out to another direction and yelled out loud:
Here comes Yao Ming !!!

All the reporters turned and ran for Yao Ming......

And Liu Xiang sprinted, entered the People's Great Hall, and escaped from the reporters.

And of course during his meeting with the former #1 golfer in the world, Yao Ming was not too shy to ask Tiger Woods for a few tips on his swing.

And this morning (April 25), it was the inauguration of Nike ~ Yao Foundation Basketball Program in Jiangwan Sports Centre in Shanghai.

Nike signed Yao Ming last November to jointly co-operate on developing such grass root basketball programs for youngsters all over China. Shanghai was one of the very first pilot cities chosen. Volunteer trainers were recruited back in February, and just in Shanghai, there will be 10 of such clinics in 8 different districts for young children (boys and girls) interested in basketball to play and be trained over week ends.

Yao Ming was in Xian this morning. He went to Xian Peihua Institute to preside over the inauguration of the 2015 Yao Foundation Project Hope Primary School Basketball Season. It is the 4th consecutive year that Yao Foundation organized and held the basketball league amongst Yao Foundation Project Hope primary schools and other Project Hope primary schools around the nation.

Yao Ming was in Beijing last night at the Chaoyang Park to attend a celebration party of his friend CCTV5 commentator and marathoner Yu Jia and his friends from +U Running Crew.

Yu Jia
and the other 3 founders of +U Running Crew (Cheng Yang, Jia Xiaomeng and Mao Daqing) had just returned from the 2015 London Marathon (held April 26, 2015). The four of them had therefore completed the final leg of the World Marathon Majors (Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, New York and Tokyo) and over 500 members of their running club +U Running Crew gathered together to celebrate for their feat.
They are now amongst only 5 Chinese that had completed the 6 World Marathon Majors, the Grand Slam in marathon !!!

Yao Ming was there as Yu Jia's buddy, but also the recipient of RMB 100,000 worth of materials/cash from +U Running Crew for his Yao Foundation for charity/philanthropic work.

Right after the party, more than 500 of +U Running Crew members completed a 6 kilometer run around the Chaoyang Park.

Some more photos of Yu Jia and his +U Running Crew buddies competing in the 2015 London Marathon.

6 +U Running Crew members took part, 6 of them finished the marathon, and 4 of them completed their Grand Slam. Yu Jia came in at a timing of 3 hours 05:56 minutes.
