Jeremy Lin is joining the CBA soon.

Lin will retire from professional basketball if he doesn't get another shot at the NBA.

But it's his defining moment becoming a journey man. At Lakers, Kobe might still consider him as his future successor and for half of the games he was a starter. But at Hornets, he became a backup PG. Most of the time he was on the bench. Especially the playoff.

When Lin was traded to the Lakers, he was in no way considered to be anything close to being "Kobe's successor". He was acquired to be Steve Nash's backup, and the only reason why he became the starter at the beginning of the season was because Nash was too injured to play. Getting benched and replaced by Ronnie Price would be a lowlight of any player's career (although I acknowledge that was more because of Byron Scott's tanking strategy rather than anything about Lin's play). By just about all accounts, Lin's time with the Lakers was the low-point of Lin's career.

With the Hornets, he came off the bench but still got more minutes per game than he did with the Lakers (26min/game vs. 25min/game). Lin's minutes increased to 27min/game in the playoffs with Charlotte, and he received significant votes for the season's 6th Man Award.

You are right. After Lin moved to the East again, he started a whole new chapter of his career. His season in Charlotte was a tremendous success. He helped Hornets get into the playoffs and almost advance to the 2nd round after 15 yrs. His two-yrs in Nets should have been the best ever if not injured. And the following season he eventually won a championship as the first-ever Asian American and NBA veteran.

Interesting...

Free agent Jeremy Lin is the only member of the G League’s top 10 points per game scorers to not be signed to an NBA team this season.

I'm an optimist, so I assume his offer is on the way too.^ Just like two yrs ago in spring, during the 2nd half of regular season, a playoff team like Raptors will invite him to join and utilize his veteran/championship experiences to chase the title. Before the season ends, anything can happen.
My guess is a team in the West, like Jazzs, Suns, Clippers, etc.

OK. Now the rumor is Nets wants him. After Aldridge retires, they need some new bloods. And it doesn't have to be frontcourt. It seems perfect when Lin reunions with his previous team and James Harden. They can chase championship together again.

Jeremy Lin — Lin, who spent two seasons with the Nets from 2016-18, hasn’t played in the NBA since 2019, when he won an NBA championship as a member of the Toronto Raptors. The 32-year-old’s familiarity with the organization gives him added appeal for the Nets, who have only 17 games left in the regular season.

Honestly speaking, he has a pretty good chance to be selected. Isajah Thomas is too short, Crawford is too old, Waiters is unknown. His biggest competitor is Cook.

The owner of the Nets is Chinese. He may be the only guy who can get Lin back into the NBA. You Asians need to make more money and become NBA owners (or refs).

If this isn't proof of continued discrimination against Asians... i don't know what other proof is needed.

Lin was basically on par with Poole in the G-League. When Poole came back to the NBA from the G-League, he was getting starter minutes and putting up 20ppg.

Yes. Tsai is likely to pick him up. I don't think there's any problem with that. The GM signing Lin in Charlotte is also an Asian.

Lin has good relationships with Tsai, Nash and D'Antoni. If they haven't even just brought him in for a workout by now, then they have no interest in signing him.
