Lin now a Raptor. He boughtout his contract with Atlanta and will sign with Toronto. https://www.instagram.com/p/BtwOF9ZDoBg ... _copy_link
jlin7 THANK YOU to the Hawks so much for this opportunity. Coming off of 2 years of being injured, you helped me become myself again on the basketball court and allowed me to experience the joy of hoops again! Thank you to the Ressler family, to Travis, to Coach Pierce, to my teammates. An organization that does things the right way, treats people the right way! What an honor it's been to get to play with Vince the (goat) and to watch these young guys develop. The future is bright for Atlanta!!! I truly mean that! Everyone who knows me knows how big my dreams are and that I have so much left to give to the game. Hyped to join the Raptors!! Galatians 6:9 #WeTheNorth #NeverDone
I think he has to clear waivers (wednesday) before the Raptors can actually sign him. Will be interesting to see how they use Lin...hopefully it won't be a bunch of DNPs...
Anyone know of Toronto's coach has any past connection to Lin?

Lin will be a backup at Toronto. However, he can still potentially sign with another team this summer. I don't think this will be a worse situation than now at Atlanta.
Obviously, Lin's agent already negotiated with Toronto before the Atlanta buyout. We would think...

We don't know what Toronto will sign him for...could be just the minimum for the remainder of this season? Or possibly a multi-year deal? Unsure, but I would think that it would be for a multi-year deal because if not, I'm not convinced that Lin has a better opportunity to showcase himself with the Raptors than he did with the Hawks. If Raptors only signing him for the rest of this season for the minimum, then he is just an insurance policy and might not see any playing time at all.

This is why I said that Lin's party must have had some negotiation prior to the Buyout.
It's really too much risk to take at good faith for Lin to jump to Toronto. I'm talking common sense.
Regardless, Hawks were not a right fit for Lin and he was too productive and winning too many games for the Hawks while the team is in tank mode. But you can blame the NBA for rewarding losing.

Danny Green and Jeremy were D-League teammates. Also, Green was one of the very few NBA players to tweet support for Jeremy when he got injured last year. Good that Jeremy has a friend on the team.

Well, the injury of back-up point guard Fred VanVleet (left thumb, anticipated to be out for 3 to 4 weeks) could be a major reason why Toronto Raptors decided to sign Jeremy.
Also Fred VanVleet is not that good in orchestrating half-court offense, controlling tempo and rhythm and playing picks and rolls with centres in the Tier 2 team. Jeremy would be an ideal guard to take over those responsibilities, and good P&R partner for either Marc Gasol or Serge Ibaka.
Fred VanVleet is not that good in orchestrating half-court offense, controlling tempo and rhythm and playing picks and roll bluntly put, don't think ur that informed to make that convenient claim.
u've never seem FVV play; i've seen him on TV several times. he is the left-handed version of JJ Barea, energetic / pesty pg capable of running the point. i've seen him execute PnR w Toronto's best player, K Leonard, who is the SF
good to see that Lin is in a better situation than 'lanta
btw this is from the Toronto Sun, which quoted coach Atkinson of the Nets, who was impressed by the Lin pickup.
“Heck of an addition for the Raptors, with Fred being out a little bit,” “Much better defender than people think. He fits the style of play I think coach Nick Nurse wants to play. He’s an elite competitor. Everyone competes in this league. But I think there is a pocket of guys that go above and beyond that. You know he’s going to be prepared. He’s meticulous in his preparation.”

Say, can someone explain what a "buyout" is?
Is Lin still getting his full year contract of $12mil? Did he just get waived by the Hawks? and now Toronto will pay the rest?

LOL !!! EFFICIENCY WISE, Jeremy is FAR BETTER than Fred VanVleet this season.
Fred VanVleet averaged 26.8 mpg, 10.8 ppg (40.3% FG% 36.6% 3-pointer%), 2.7 rpg, 4.6 apg, 0.9 spg, 0.2 bpg.
Jeremy averaged 19.7 mpg, 10.7 ppg (46.6% FG% 33.3% 3-pointer%), 2.2 rpg, 3.5 apg, 1.1 spg, 0.4 bpg.
