I guess Joe Tsai is pretty hands-off with the sports teams he owns. He hasn't really done much for his other sports team, San Diego Seals. The GMs and coaches seems to be doing most of the talent evaluations for that team as well.
But sadly, it's starting to look like Lin's career and heading the same way as Yao Ming's NBA career.

PhilNYC wrote: Just read that both Atlanta’s GM and head coach were assistants at GSW when Lin was there, so both have a little history with him. YUP..... Atlanta Hawks GM Travis Schlenk was the Assistant GM at Golden State Warriors during those years Jeremy was with Golden State Warriors. He and Larry Riley (then GM of Golden State Warriors) gave Jeremy Lin a contract per insistence of Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob who was impressed by Jeremy's strong performance in the Las Vegas Summer League with Dallas Mavericks in the summer of 2010.
And Atlanta Hawks' new coach Lloyd Pierce was an assistant coach at Golden State Warriors in 2010-2011, and he used to study films, and worked out with Jeremy in the mornings before practice officially started.

And it seemed NOT ALL HOPES LOST in Atlanta Hawks for Jeremy.
Travis Schlenk seemed like he still wants to trade Dennis Schroder, and deployed Jeremy as the mentor for the young Trae Young.Quote:

“We had the opportunity to add a veteran point guard to the locker room,” Hawks general manager Travis Schlenk said. “We’ve said all along that it takes high-character, good guys to help a young team grow. Jeremy fits the bill. We had two point guards on the roster, and we needed a third.” The third point guard is Trae Young, the No. 5 overall pick in the draft last week. There is no scenario in which Young, if healthy, isn’t playing major minutes as part of coach Lloyd Pierce’s rotation in 2018-19. And if Lin is the veteran mentor for Young, that means Schroder isn’t.

Now that Melo has been traded to the Hawks joining Lin, who was also traded there, in retrospect, u wanna retract you false accusation ? PhilNYC wrote: Dr. No wrote: Rumor of a Lin / Melo trade has surfaced Those rumors are false.

GREAT NEWS that Dennis Schroder is now gone with this 3-party trade tht got Anthony Carmelo, who probably would proceed for a buyout and won't be there at Atlanta Hawks.
That means Jeremy and Trae Young will share most of the play minutes in future at position 1, with Jeremy probably be the starting point guard initially over the rookie Trae Young !!!

What happens when a player gets a buyout? Does that mean Melo will get paid the full $28 million and he won't even have to play for the hawks. So he can sign a $10 million deal with another team and make a total of $38 million next season.

I wonder if the Hawks printed out a huge billboard with Melo photoshopped in a Hawks uniform with the #7 on it? Hahah... what a huge difference just a few years make.
