NOT SURE ABOUT THE LEGITIMACY OF THE RUMOR !!!
So if it is TRUE, and Alibaba does take over ownership of Brookyln Nets, do you guys think it will MORE SECURE Jeremy's position in Brooklyn Nets, and results in a MAX CONTRACT for Jeremy when his current contract ends next summer ???
http://nypost.com/2017/08/06/several-in ... -purchase/ Several interested in Brooklyn Nets purchase By Josh Kosman August 6, 2017 There’s no official sale book bouncing around yet when it comes to the Brooklyn Nets, but already the investment bank Allen & Co. has received several expressions of interest, The Post has learned. The basketball team owned by billionaire Russian Mikhail Prokhorov hoped to fetch around $2 billion, but we hear one interested party has been trying to box out others in the sale process. A source told On the Money that Alibaba Executive Vice Chairman Joe Tsai has expressed an interest in the team, though reps for his family office, Blue Pool, deny it.
Reports suggest the Nets want to find a Chinese backer — not surprising given the success of Yao Ming with the Houston Rockets, which are also for sale.
The Post’s Josh Kosman reported last month that Mike Zavodsky, the Nets’ executive VP of global partnerships, was in China with 20 meetings lined up.The majority stake sale comes after a failed attempt to sell a minority interest in the team. Looks like the Nets could end up moving from Russian ownership to Chinese — and they still won’t have any red in their uniforms.

this rumored move, if true, runs counter to Chinese President Xi's containing on capital flight. it appears to me that the author didn't do sufficient research. such as weighting in the economic/political ramifications of this rumor

If this is true, Allibaba's Joe Tsai is a big sports fan. He has already purchased an expansion Lacrosse team to begin play in San Diego in 2019.

YEAH Joseph Tsai 蔡崇信 was born in Taiwan, but immigrated to Canada when young; he is a Taiwanese-Canadian, has a law degree from Yale University where he played collegiate lacrosse.

That guy must have seen SOMETHING SPECIAL in Jack Ma. He got into acquaintences with Jack Ma, got sold by Jack Ma about the power of Internet and potential of E-commerce, gave up his job (@ US$ 700K per annum) at a German investment firm, came to China and co-founded Alibaba together with Jack Ma and 16 other relatives/friends of Jack Ma, and only earned a meagre 500 Renminbi salary per month at Alibaba at the turn of the Millennium.
He was INSTRUMENTAL in raising a total of US$25 Million from SoftBank, Goldman Sachs, Fidelity and some other institutions at the turn of the Millennium for Alibaba, as well as the acquisition of China Yahoo in 2005.
The guy was the UNSUNG HERO 无名英雄 at the back of Alibaba !!!
