So after an easy win over the lowly Philadelphia 76ers at home, tying the winningest record (44 games) in a season in their franchise history, and clinching a playoff berth, Charlotte Hornets is on a 3-game road trip, starting with the toughest of them all: Cleveland Cavaliers !!!

The competition for playoff in the Eastern Conference in this season had been severely intense, with 4 teams (Charlotte Hornets, Miami Heat, Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks) all horn-locked up till this moment with virtually no difference between them.

As Miami Heat (44W 32L) lost to Portland TrailBlazers 110 ~ 93, and Boston Celtics (44W 32L) surprisingly upset Golden State Warriors 109 ~ 106, Charlotte Hornets (44W 31L) temporarily rose to #3 of the Conference, as well as surpassing both Miami Heat and Atlanta Hawks (45W 32L) to lead in the Southeast Division.

But personally think their stay at #3 and top of Southeast Division could be short-lived, as they will play against formidable opponents on this forthcoming 3-game road trip which will sort of determine Charlotte Hornets' fate in the playoff, as they will have to play Cleveland Cavaliers first, then have a 1-day rest before playing a back-to-back against another divisional champion, Toronto Raptors and New York Knicks.

So this is going to be a tough week for Charlotte Hornets, but personally believe they're motivated to keep their current momentum, win another game to break their most winning season franchise history record as well as strive to stay at #3 (so as to have home court advantage, and avoid clashing with Cleveland Cavaliers in Round 2 in case they can win and advance from Round 1 of the playoff) and win a divisional championship too.

Possible line up

Cleveland Cavaliers

Point Guard: Kyrie Irving
Shooting Guard: J.R. Smith
Small Forward: LeBron James
Power Forward: Kevin Love
Centre: Timofey Mozgov

Charlotte Hornets

Point Guard: Kemba Walker
Shooting Guard: Courtney Lee
Small Forward: Nicolas Batum
Power Forward:Marvin Williams
Centre: Cody Zeller

Despite a gallant 10-point performance in 4th quarter, Jeremy could not stop the Cleveland Cavaliers took away the win 112 ~ 103 !!!

Charlotte Hornets' starters dug out a 10-point hole in 1Q, Nicolas Batum limped out in 2Q with an injury, did not return in 2H, and was falling behind by 21 points in early 3Q when Kemba Walker suddenly woke up to lead the Hornets back to striking distance of 8 points, before 2 3-pointers from JR Smith and a deep shot from Mo Williams gave the Cavaliers a 15-point lead into 4Q (86 ~ 71).

Then in 4Q, Jeremy erupted to score 10 points of his 14 points to lead the Hornets back to striking distance (96 ~ 92) before JR Smith and Kevin Love scored consecutive 3-pointer to seal the win.

Jeremy finished with 14 points (3/9 FG% 1/4 3-pointer% 7/7 FT%), 3 rebounds, 1 assist but 5 turnovers in 26 minutes of action.

With the loss, Charlotte Hornets (44W 32L) lost their overnight #1 spot in Southeast Division and #3 spot in Eastern Conference, got surpassed by Atlanta Hawks (45W 32L), Boston Celtics (45W 32L) and Miami Heat (44W 32L) and dropped back to #3 in Southeast Division and #6 spot in Eastern Conference.

As should be expected, the Hornets lost against the Cavs. This put them in 6th place in the East. A win could have put them in 3rd place.
