thank god they werent shooting ft's in a 1 possession game........nice game by Yi, nice D on dirk at the end to force the final turnover.......outside of leaving dirk wide open when he got crossed on the last 3 that almost tied it, he played a pretty clean game.........

and get chen out of the doghouse.......dont know what kind of crap offense liu wei was running down the stretch, but force feeding yao every time down or jacking up long 3's cause the shot clock's gone is not smart.

I also didn't like when Yao went to the bench to rest, Liu Wei drove 1 on 5 and took a bad pull up with a lot of clock left. It sends a bad message that Yao is #1 and he is #2.

Liu Wei needs to assist to the other players besides Yao when he's not busy turning the ball over.
i agree man,Liu Wei reminds me Me Williams sometimes..IMO the biggest plaw for the CNT is the point spot, both defense and offense. im goin back to slyp..By the way who do they play next? does anone knows?

who is Me Williams?
Mo Williams used to be in the Bucks..He is the biggest ball hog in the team..he is a shoot first, shoot 2nd, shoot 3rd, and maybe pass 4th kinda point gaurd and a really dumb one too..

Chen Jianghua was responsible for China losing its 10-point lead quickly within 2 minutes in 2Q for play bad bad defense on Germany's point guard. 2 consecutive 3-pointers let the German cut the deficit to only 4 points.

Something wrong with you old man. Why are you so bitter against young players? Chen only played like 4 minutes, made 1 turnover. And you still cant get off of his nutz in the 3rd quarter when he havent even played. So Liu Wei can make defensive mistakes, its ok, since he's veteran, but no, Chen is cancer when he does it. Great logic.

robwu is correct, you cant put Chen in a doghouse just bc he made some mistakes early. He always does that. In the 3rd and 4th quarter, Germany had their backup pg in, which is this old guy who cant guard fast pgs. China needed offense, Jonas should learn in these situations you cant sit a fast pg.

what a nerve wrecking win. China needs a good strong guard. We have enough big men. But a good guard is hard to find these days.

no way.....first Chen came in late 1 st quarter with China up by 7........he left the game when they were up 4........the lead got to 10 while he was in the game. then they took out yao so what do you expect.....it's not his fault WSP wants to take step back jumpers..........and that roller guy hita 3 on wei late, almost hit another one on that mini fast break.....so essentially, Wei had the same bad defense as Chen, it's just that Roller didnt hit the 2nd one...............and the ref bailed Wei out when he was on Dirk because of some defensive breakdown.

Greece, does not matter to China now. They are in final 8. Can they go further? Very possible.

China will be strong in th gaurd spot in the next 2years..Sun Yue will have more experience and he'll influence some other bigger and stronger point gaurds for CNT in the future.

Sun Yue is started to become a legit NBA level guard. His outside shooting has improved and he had 2 blocks and 2 steals today.

What impress me the most is his stamina for defense and risking his body to block shots.

Good momentum to carry him to the Lakers roster.

China plays Greece next, the other group is still wide open. Russia will be fighting for their lives against Argentina, and Australia doing all they can against Lithuania. If Lithuania beats Australia, and Argentina beats Russia as expected. And if China loses to Greece, you see China playing Lithuania in the quarters. This is not so bad, since China probably has a better chance against Lithuania than Argentina. Argentina has been getting better and better as the tournament progresses.

This is where that game against Spain would have been so important, if China had won that game and can play say Croatia in the next round, then they have a great chance to make it to the last 4. Oh well, can't complain, beating Germany was a long shot.

I think this tournament has demonstrated that China is better than they believe themselves to be. Sure they have problems, but who would have thought they could take Spain to OT. They need to believe, play hard and disciplined and give a good showing against Greece, win or lose. Greece walloped them at 06, time for some payback. Greece is a tough team, let's see how China plays.
