He did look impressive on defense during Summer league. i didn't expect that out of an Asian player.

Then i realized Watanabe was defensive player of the league in his conference.

You'll get your wish. Asians (including yourself) are just not good enough at basketball.

Yes true, but ONLY when they compare themselves to other Asians.

Yuta Watanabe stayed in USA to continue training to be ready for the preseason camp, I guess. Japan did not send in their best players for the Asian Games not even Rui Hachimura and their naturalized player Nick Fazekas. They just got thrashed by Iran 93 ~ 67 in the quarter final.

LOL !!!

FVCKING CLUELESS BUTT-TROLL
that only knows to TROLL here in the forum !!!!

China ALSO did not send their BEST team to the Asian Games, as this is ONLY the Red Team, and there are a couple of key players from Blue Team (e.g. Yi Jianlian, Guo Ailun, Wu Qian, Hu Jinqiu, Li Gen, Zhou Peng) that might form the FINAL CNT !!!

Some of the countries like Japan or Philippines did not send in their best team because they placed MORE IMPORTANCE in the forthcoming Second Round of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers (The first window of the Asian Qualifiers will be September 13 and 17).

Japan is grouped in the Second Round in Group F with Australia, Iran, Philippines, Kazakhstan and Qatar. They're currently with 8 points (with results carried forward from Round 1), ranked 5th in the group just ahead of Qatar, and they will still need to play against Iran, Kazakhstan and Qatar in the second round.

Since Asia will have 7 spots (excluding China as the Host Country), the Top 3 of this Group will qualify for the 2019 FIBA World Cup, Japan still have a chance to climb up the table if they can beat home and away Kazakhstan and Qatar, or steal 1 of the 2 games from Iran. Worst come to worst, they can still have a chance to qualify as the Best 4th placed team vs that of Group G which is comprised of New Zealand, Lebanon, Jordan, South Korea, China and Syria.

Japan will play against Kazakhstan away on September 13 and then against Iran at home on September 17.

Therefore they are reserving energy for their best players for the Asian Qualifiers, instead of sending them to Asian Games.

For China, they will be sending in the Blue Team for the first window of the Qualifiers. But regardless of the results, as host country for the 2019 FIBA World Cup, China is automatically qualified.

So even if they Top 3 of Group G, or Best 4 of Group F and G, their qualification spot will be given to the country next in the ranking.
