Put in your prediction to which draft pick Wang Zhelin will get drafted when he declares for the NBA draft. Years from now, we can look back to see who the best forecaster is.

Wang Zhelin doesn't have Yi athletism, but will be more productive in the NBA due to his skills and post up abilities. He is already ahead of Yi and even Yao in the CBA.

But due to the Yi Jianlian effect, he will be drafted lower than he really should be.
I predict he will be a late lottery pick. #11 - #13 pick in the draft he declares.

Well, it's DIFFICULT to predict, as personally think some of those scouts don't pay much attention to international players, and just focus on USA players.

For some strange reasons, despite an out-breaking rookie season of averaging 20.3 ppg/12.9 rpg, which far excelled those of his predecessors (Wang Zhizhi, Mengke Bateer, Yao Ming and Yi Jianlian) in their respective rookie seasons, insteads of rising, Wang Zhelin's draft position had plummeted from 43 down to 57 in the latest release of the 2014 NBA Mock Draft of nbadraft.com.

His draft position had been floating around 37 ~ 46 for the past year, and it's the first time that it plummeted down to below 50.

Personally think his performance in this summer and next year could be quite important, as Wang Zhelin will play at least in the following international tournaments:

  • 2013 FIBA East Asian Championship (for qualifying for 2013 Asian Championship) in South Korea in May
  • 2013 FIBA U19 World Championship in Czech Republic (27 June-7 July)
  • 2013 FIBA Asian Championship in Manila Philippines (August 1-11, 2013) *** As qualification for 2014 FIBA World Cup
  • 2014 FIBA World Cup in Madrid Spain with dates not yet announced. (Assuming China will qualify out from 2013 FIBA Asian Championship).
Hopefully he will do well in the above international tournaments such that his stocks will rise again.

I'm probably seeing him as a late 1st rounder. He's gotta get more international exposure.

Just so you, know Marc Gasol was a 2nd round pick. This is what I'm basing it off. International bigs are usually early 2nd round or late first round.
