GOOD NEWS & BAD NEWS !!!
The GOOD news is in an interview yesterday, Wang Zhelin's Mom confirmed that Change (YEAH....that's Wang Zhelin's English name) had received the invitation to participate in the 2013 Nike Hoop Summit.
The BAD news is according to his Mom, Wang Zhelin might be forced to give up the chance for his 2nd appearance in the Nike Hoop Summit as its schedule might be in conflict with the preliminaries of the China National Game (as Wang Zhelin definitely will need to represent Fujian in the basketball competition for the China National Game )!!!
SURELY HOPE Wang Zhelin will SERIOUSLY think this out further; or those @$$hole provincial sport bureaucrats could give the greenlight for Wang Zhelin to just be away for a week or so for the 2013 Nike Hoop Summit.
It's A TOTAL WASTE and SHEER STUPIDITY to have Wang Zhelin to play in a rather meaningless China National Game for the weak Fujian provincial team instead of letting him go and play in the prestigious 2013 Nike Hoop Summit against the best players of his age group to show off his skills and potentials in front of all the NBA GMs and international scouts, which DEFINITELY will affect Wang Zhelin's NBA Draft positioning.

Wang Zhelin maybe invited again for this year's Nike Hoop Summit, after his brilliant 19 points/8 rebounds performance last year. (it's 8 rebounds and NOT 9 rebounds)
It was first disclosed by Jonathan Givony, the site administrator/owner of Draft Express, in his Twitter.Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress on his Twitter February 18th wrote: Rumored Hoop Summit invites except Jaiteh, Jean-Charles, Ivanovic: Andrew Wiggins, Mario Hezonja, Dennis Schroeder, Dante Exum, Wang Zhelin.

HOPEFULLY the following is a GOOD SIGN of things to come !!!
Wang Zhelin posted on his personal Sina.com Weibo (microblog) yesterday the following photo, and asked his fans whether they can tell him the difference between the photos (one taken last year, and the other taken recently).

It's one of these visa application sized photos.
That PROBABLY means Wang Zhelin is preparing his photos to start applying for visas for travelling.
HOPEFULLY he is going to apply for his visa to USA !!!

Thanks for the info pry.
I hope WZL, plays at the Nike Hoop Summit again, and has another solid performance there. It is a great event to get some more exposure in the US, after the CBA season.
It was a pretty entertain game, last year. I thought the international team had some good chemistry, and it'd be cool to see Wiggins and Wang on the same court again. Do you know of any other return players from last year?

The roster of the World Select Team had not yet been released/announced; it will be released late February or early March.
But the roster of the US Select Team had already been announced.

THAT WILL BE HIGHLY UNLIKELY !!!
It's not just about one game. If Wang Zhelin is allowed to play in the Nike Hoop Summit, it might mean the Fujian provincial team will have to play 3 to 4 or the complete preliminary group games WITHOUT him, something they could not afford.
For this year, the preliminary group tournaments will be held from April 19 ~ 23.
There will be 3 groups playing in Nanchang of Jiangxi, Tongliang of Chongqing, and Liuyang of Hunan.
The grouping will be as follows:
- Jiangxi Group: Guangdong, Xinjiang, Jilin, Zhejiang, Sichuan and Hong Kong
- Chongqing Group: Shandong, Hubei, Beijing, Heilongjiang, Fujian and Henan
- Hunan Group: Bayi, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Tianjin, Shanxi and Guangxi
It will be a round robin, meaning 5 games in 5 nights.
The 2 top teams of each group will join the host Liaoning to advance into the Final which will be held in end August/early September.
The 3rd and 4th placed teams of each group will go through another round robin in Zunyi of Guizhou from April 26th to 30th; the top team of that playoff tournament will take the last slot for the Final 8.
As the Nike Hoop Summit is held on the 20th, counting in the flying time/jet lag adjustment time, if Wang Zhelin is allowed to play in the Nike Hoop Summit, then it means Fujian might just forget about him for the preliminary group tournament, UNLESS they are SO CONFIDENT that they can get into the Top 2 of their group to qualify for the final, or at least be good enough to be placed 3rd or 4th in their group to qualify for the playoff in Zunyi.
With Beijing and Shandong in their group, personally don't think they can come out Top 2 from the preliminary round WITHOUT Wang Zhelin.
Fujian has placed high hopes in this China National Game, and had re-summoned the services of Gong Songlin and Lv Xiaoming who had left Fujian SBS Xunxin for some other CBA teams to represent Fujian in the China National Game.
So for these senior Fujian provincial sports bureaucrats who attach MORE IMPORTANCE AND SIGNIFICANCE to the China National Game than Olympics, personally don't think they will approve and release Wang Zhelin for the 2013 Nike Hoop Summit.

Damn that sucks. Since Jabari Parker is going to play, I expect future projected #1 pick Canadian Andrew Wiggins to be there too. That game is going to get a lot of hype just because of those guys. This would be a perfect opportunity for Wang Zhelin to get even more exposure.
