This season's CBA All-Star Weekend will be held at the Guangzhou International Sports Center for the Performing Arts on February 23 ~ 24, 2013.

The CBA All Stars voting by fans over Internet had been completed, and the starters for the Southern All Stars and Northern All Stars had been announced.

The Starting 5 for Southern All Stars are:

  • Centre: Wang Zhizhi 885,630 votes
  • Power Forward: Yi Jianlian 1,559,634 votes
  • Small Forward: Yi Li 766,663 votes
  • Shooting Guard: Quincy Douby 987,536 votes
  • Point Guard: Liu Wei 768,563 votes
The Starting 5 for Northern All Stars are:

  • Centre: Han Dejun 786,613 votes
  • Power Forward: Li Xiaoxu 589,854 votes
  • Small Forward: Tracy McGrady 2,218,388 votes
  • Shooting Guard: Guo Ailun 926, 534 votes
  • Point Guard: Stephon Marbury 1,230,561 votes.
Tracy Mcgrady eventually beat Yi Jianlian to get the most fan's voting after 6 rounds of voting.

After leading for 2 weeks of fans' voting, Wang Zhelin eventually went down to Wang Zhizhi for the starting centre position on the Southern All Stars team, but it is widely expected that the increasingly popular rookie will be picked as the back-up centre for Wang Zhizhi in the Southern All Stars.

As for the Northern All Stars, Liaoning Jiebao's fans seemed to have completely controlled and dominated the voting as 3 Liaoning players (Han Dejun, Li Xiaoxu and Guo Ailun) were voted in as starters.

Anyway, since Han Dejun had had a season-ending injury on his arm, his place will be taken by a yet-to-be-announced player, probably an expat, cos every team is allowed to have 2 expatriate players.

Also 14 players (7 from each side) as back-up players will be picked by the 2 head coaches of the 2 All Stars team to finalize the roster.

So it should be an interesting matchup.....

Stephon Marbury + Tracy McGrady vs Wang Zhizhi + Yi Jianlian

WHICH PART of what I wrote you don't FVCKING understand???

Wang Zhelin was placed second behind Wang Zhizhi in the centre category of the Southern All Stars. He got close to 800,000 votes, more votes than a few other starting All Stars.

It was rumored that prior to the last round of voting, he was leading Wang Zhizhi by 50K votes. But finally Wang Zhizhi won the voting by 100K votes. Maybe CBA does not want Wang Zhelin to get voted into the starting position in just his rookie season.

It's understandable that he lost to Wang Zhizhi.
It's Wang Zhizhi's 13th time to be voted in as All Stars; and Wang Zhizhi used to get the most votes from fans for 7 to 8 times of the All Stars, as he is considered the leader of the national team, and national hero.

The head coaches for both teams had not been announced.

But traditionally, they should be the head coaches of the 2 top highest placed Southern and Northern teams in the league.

Therefore barring any accidents it should be

  • Jonas Kazlauskas (or Du Feng) of Guangdong Dongguan Bank Hongyuan Tigers for Southern All Stars.
  • Gong Xiaobin of Shandong Kingston Lions for Northern All Stars.
because with 2 more rounds to go before the playoff begins,
there is NO CHANCE of Beijing Jinyu Capital Steel Ducks to overtake Shandong Kingston Lions for the second place in the regular season. As for Guangdong Dongguan Bank Hongyuan Tigers, they are already declared the #1 team for the regular season.

Why isn't Jonas Kazlauskas coaching in Europe? Is he going to coach the CNT again?

Jonas Kazlauskas is NOT going to coach CNT again, cos he is the current national head coach for his home country, Lithuania. His contract obligates him to be tied to Lithuania all the way up to 2016 Olympics.

As there was this 2 to 3 months time slot when there were no international competition commitment for Lithuania, Jonas Kazlauskas obtained special approval from Arvydas Sabonis (currently the president of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation), accepted the invitation from Guangdong Dongguan Bank Hongyuan Tigers to act as interim coach for the team for this season when Li Chunjiang stepped down.

How the hell did McGrady even made it to the All-Star when his games played and points scored are pretty dismal? I wouldn't even vote for that bum to be a Gaterade boy...lol
