Stephon Marbury had his 3rd consecutive 30+ eruption to lead his team Beijing Jinyu Capital Steel Ducks to topple Shandong Kingston Lions 105 ~ 98 on their own home court last night.

Image

Stephon Marbury was virtually unstoppable, scoring 38 points (13/18 FG%, 2/3 3-pointer% 10/12 FT%), 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals.

Ji Zhe contributed 24 points, 9 rebounds and 1 assists, while Randolph Morris (15 points/7 rebounds/1 assist/1 block shot) and Li Gen (14 points/4 rebounds/2 assists) combined for 29 points.

On Shandong side, Pooh Jeter scored 31 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals; Jackson Vroman played subpar to score only 6 points/9 rebounds/4 assists/4 block shots.

Zaid Abbas

CBA 3-pointer champion Sun Zhe
did well to score 22 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists.

So after the loss of Shandong Kingston Lions, every single CBA team had lost at least once in this new season.

You have NO FVCKING IDEA of what you're talking about.

Club management is NOT NECESSARILY about results.

While they may not be as rich as other CBA teams to splash $$$$$$ to recruit top players, Shanghai MAXXIS Sharks is viewed to be

  • One of the best managed CBA teams in CBA.
  • They were professinally managed.
  • They were the only CBA team run like NBA teams with expats in their coaching staff (Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Strength and Conditioning Coach).
  • Their players got involved in community and charity works.
  • They had been awarded by CBA to be the team with the best media/public relationship.
  • They had started to put emphasis in developing junior players; the club had entered into co-operation agreements with all primary/secondary schools of Shanghai that they will conduct basketball clinics/summer training camps for the schools, while in reciprocity, when the schools discover talents, those kids/lads will be absorbed by the club.

But why are they just a garbage bottom-ranking team?

In the Guangdong derby last night, Guangdong Dongguan Bank Hongyuan Tigers beat Dongguan New Century Leopards 107 ~ 93.

This game was really a dual between Yi Jianlian and Lester Hudson, as both displayed strong offensive abilities.

Yi Jianlian was virtually unstoppable owning Dongguan New Century Leopards youthful interior (comprised of Sun Tonglin and Li Muhao) as their expat Marcus Haislip sat out the game with injuries.

Yi Jianlian just kept scoring left and right either with his jumpers or layups or dunks. He eventually came up with 41 points (14/18 FG% 1/2 3-pointer% 12/15 FT%), 11 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 block shots. 41 points is his season-high and 3rd career-high scoring in CBA.

His other 2 expat team mates were just completely overshadowed by Yi's great performance; Terrence Williams (22 points/1 rebound/3 assists) and Ike Diogu (10 points/17 rebounds/1 assist/1 block shot) just combined for 32 points.

Wang Shipeng (11 points) and Zhou Peng (10 points)
combined for 21 points.

On Dongguan New Century Leopards side, it was just Lester Hudson's one-man show.

Lester Hudson had an AWESOME game, scoring 51 points (19/38 FG% 10/24 3-pointer% 3/3 FT%), 8 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block shot.

Only 1 other Leopards managed to score in double digits: Zhang Kai for 12 points.

With this win, Guangdong Dongguan Bank Hongyuan Tigers improved their record to 5W 1L, and is now joint #1 with Shandong Kingston Lions.

Tracy McGrady's team Qingdao Double Star Eagles had yet to win a single game in the league.

Playing on their own home court, they got thrashed by the visiting Liaoning Jiebao by 30 points 114 ~ 84 !!!

Tracy McGrady showed that he is pretty unprofessional;
he was careless in his eating and got some stomach problem/diarrhea; and he had to call time-out to go to toilet in middle of the game; and he was seen laughing and joking with his trainer and agent by the court side when his team was felling more than 20 points to Liaoning Jiebao.

He only scored 10 points (4/10 FG% 0/2 3-pointer% 2/5 FT%), 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

The other expat Ilunga Mbenga scored a double-double of 18 points/10 rebounds/2 block shots.

Li Tao (20 points/7 rebounds) and Feng Qi (12 points/5 rebounds/7 assists) combined for 32 points.

On Liaoning side, it was a one-man show of the young Guo Ailun.

Guo Ailun played 47:49 minutes, meaning he had only 11 seconds of rest; but he had his career night by scoring 35 points (15/19 FG% 2/2 3-pointer% 3/4 FT%), 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

The leading CBA scorer Josh Akognon scored 29 points (8/16 FG% 4/11 3-pointer% 9/9 FT%)/9 rebounds/4 assists.

Their other expat Alexander Johnson contributed a double-double of 20 points (7/20 FG% 6/12 FT%)/12 rebounds/1 assist.

Li Xiaoxu (11 points/14 rebounds/2 assists/1 block shot)
and He Tianju (10 points/6 rebounds) combined for 21 points and 20 rebounds.
