Newspaper writers are a bunch of sheep. Once an idea is commonly accepted as true it will be unquestioningly repeated by everyone else in the media business as gospel.

Knowing that it's kind of interesting to watch the meme that's emerging in sports journalism with regards to Yao Ming. Assuming he continues to play like he has been recently I expect to see a lot more of the following:

"Houston loses to (insert team here); wastes another magnificent performance from Yao Ming

"Yao Ming turned in another dominating performance today, but his effort was wasted as the losers who make up the rest of the Rockets and their idiot coach were unable to hit an outside jumper or call a decent play Even the mighty Yao was not enough to pull a team composed of defective mutants to victory."

I'm exagerating a little, but not much. It's not really fair, but inevitably the media is going to assume that a guy who's scoring 30+ points consistently and has a losing record is being held back by the rest of the organization.

Unless of course it's Kobe Bryant, who is just a ball hog.

There's no question, Yao is the top center in the L. C'mon man, 6 out of his last 7 games have been 30+ points and 10+ reboounds. He's definitely a different player from the one who started the season. This is what we expected when T-Mac first went out.

Only true fans don't lose hope in Yao wether he is doing good or bad. I am a Yao fan no matter and will always be.
