this is year 4 and each season he has gradually improved (more like baby steps). In his rookie year, he had us drooling and salivating over his potential to one day "dominate" the league. Many posters (and media) predicted superstar status and lofty #'s along the lines of Duncan and KG. Can he ever achieve 25pts/12 rebounds/3blks? I don't believe so. Yao is a decent player, but will never be a franchise type talent. He's been overhyped so much that he is now considered a disapointment in the eyes of many people. I believe Yao has peaked. If he can consistently avg 20pts, 8-9rebounds, I'm satisfied. I don't know why so many posters still hold the faint hope of him becoming their savior. He is what he is, a better than avg center in a league full of scrub C's. A superstar? NO. To blame the refs/coaches/teamates/commish for holding him back is BS. We don't need any more excuses, just realize the fact u are rooting for a decent #2 or even #3 option on some teams. So am I wrong in my assessment? Is he a legit numero uno w/untapped potential that needs to be unshackled from JVG's system? Are his peak years still far away to bust out w/23-25pts and 10-11boards? I'd like to hear ur thoughts, especially Pruyen's.

anyone believe yao's peaked definitely hasn't watched any games this season. he's improved in virtually every aspect of his game. he's not consistent enough, but on the other hand, he's already much more consistent than past years.

ben wallace offered a good measuring stick of what yao can do.

Yao has been unlucky in this season so far even though he has more points, rebounds and comparatively better stamina than last year. TMac is injured, JVG is very imaginative, and his guards are very inept. He is stuck with this crap for now.

Yao's certainly improve certain aspect of his game, but his weakness and flaws are still big enough to keep him from crossing the hurdle. Those weakness includes foul trouble, rebounding, problems with fronting defense (which he shares w/ guards), and stamina.

That list is like a broken record, and he may not be able to improve on those...but in a system and w/ideal teammates, he maybe able to maximize what he's great in.

Yao sucks!

I'll call CD to trade him to Lakers for Kwame Brown and Andrew Bynum.

No 1 pick to No 1 pick
plus a
No 10 pick

good business

Peaked? How can you tell 10 games into the season? Based on what I've seen, he improved in EVERY aspect of the game. Who's to say he won't improve any further?

WHAT THE HELL are you babbling about. Peaked, people have been saying this since he first got into the league. It's meaningless. Are you trying to gamble or something? If you were one of those people who said he peaked as a bust, or during his 1st year, or 2nd year, or as late as this spring, you would be wrong. GG

Never? Who is to say? And so what?

"I don't think so"? Well thank you for sharing.

"in the eyes of many"? Who? Who are these people? Who do they think they are, and why do their opinions matter?

Yall need to relax. LOL
