This excerpt from Charley Rosen's article "Still Yao's Daddy":

"......... Yao's center of gravity is so high that opponents can get into his legs and move him off his favorite low-post spots. It takes too long for Yao to gather his huge body to jump and he's therefore a poor shot-blocker (only .49 blocks per game!). His lateral movement is likewise painfully sluggish, rendering him defenseless against any opponent who can turn and......... "

OMG  only .49 BPG? Why are these so-called professional sports commentators and analysts so caught up in degenerating numbers against Yao for the whole world to be misinformed? Yao may not really have generated enough fear against his opponents with Detroit-Rock-City attitude, but seemingly enough fear (and added reactionary bias) in the mindset of anti-Yao bandwagoneers, that less than truthful stats are required establish a artificial psyche "Still-Yaos-Daddy" psychoperplexity. Where did Mr. Rosen get the minimized ".49" figure from? The "inches" measurment of his manhood?

i've just noticed Fox Sports corrected the public misinformation on the "Shaq, Yaos Daddy" just mere moments ago! i hope all this Yao animosity hits Yao upside his head, and makes him step up his game a little inspite of his tough schedule with NT efforts (months ago) and all that commercial BS (pending)...........

Nahh, that guy is totally biased. Forget about him.

If he posted a comparison of stat like this:

"Player Min. FG FT Off. Reb. Tot. Reb. Ast. Stl. Blk. TO Pts.
Shaquille O'Neal 27 6-11 3-5 1 5 2 0 1 3 15
Yao Ming 34 8-14 6-6 4 9 2 1 0 1 22

Actually, the game stats are misleading since Shaq and Yao were both in foul trouble all game long and were simultaneously on the court for only a little over 17 minutes. Here, then, are the head-to-head numbers

It's pretty obvious that the media is now reverting to "Bash Yao" mode. Remember when they wre touting him as the "Next Big Bust"? He proved them wrong,so now they OVER, OVER OVEEER hype him as "The Next Shaq". Now Yao doesn't live up to their stratospheric expectations, so it's time to bash him again.

I don't take many of these guys' opinions very seriously. I mean, how can they be "experts" on every team?!? Of course they're not, but they sure write like they are! It's best to just find some forums, with decent and knowledgeable fans - like me - who keep the homerism to a minimum and who are able to discuss and dissect their teams players and games on a regular basis because they actually watch them all the time. These guys in the media are paid to talk smack, and that's all it is.

I think this is the same guy who said Jerry West didn't have anything to do with the Lakers' success.

yip, he had written this lie about Jerry West

http://www.yaomingmania.com/forum/viewt ... jerry+west

"...Charlie Rosen was interviewed by SoCal radio personalities/columnists (Joel McDonnell & Doug E. Krikorian) on Fri; KSPN 710, an ESPN outlet in LA. They ambushed Rosen for the gross inaccuracies, and lack of fact-checking, in his article on Jerry West---in a manner similar to Rosen's public dissing of the Zeke from Cabin Creek on FoxSport.net

Krikorian, a columnist for 35+yrs, and formerly a beat writer covering the Lakers, provided specific details invalidating Rosen futile points (based on half truths) to the effect that Jerry West should not get any credit for building the Lakers. In response, Rosen could not provide any details, other than saying that "my sources are more reliable than yours
...Then McDonnel, a 30+yr veteran of the LA sporting scene, lashed out at Rosen, "...that is a bunch of bull. We make our living based on the accuracy of our reporting, else we're a goner. The fact that both of us have survived this cut-throat business in LA, for 30+ yrs, is testamony to the accuracy and reliability of our reporting. LA is a very fickled market, if you're not good, you're gone.

While both of us pound the pavement for stories and fact-checking, you've never been to LA, and can only mimick the tales spewed by the self-proclaimed Zen Master. We know the names & Tel # of all Lakers employees, past and present, their agent, spouse and family, as well as best friends. We know most of their favorite hang-out places. You don't even have Phil's Tel # in LA; all you do to to copy the words from Phil's EMail messages to you...."

The Most Embarrassing       Moment
In Rosen's FoxSport.net story, he had insinuated that Jerry West had influenced Kobe to sue Phil Jackson for slander, after Jackson had publicly said that Kobe had intentionally thrown away games in High School.

Joel and Doug grilled Rosen for his sources on that story. Rosen asserted that he had 3 unimpeachable sources on that. Joel & Doug laughed their asses off on radio. Actually, they had started it (suggesting that Kobe should sue phil) as a prank on radio; got some good mileage out of it. Some local Sport Writer actually followed up on their prank, by suggesting the names of some high-power attorneys.

"Not only do you suck in fact-checking, you wouldn't even know what news sources are, even if you're talking to them. had you bothered to check you facts, you'd have known that we started that prank !       ". ...

Yao's not that kind of player where he needs to bully his way to the top.

He has grace and respect for the game and everyone around him, things you would never see in most people.

I don't understand why everyone wants Yao to become this beast when he just wants to be his own person.
