maybe it is oversight on Yao's part, but he forgot former Rox Hakeem, who had schooled Shaq in the NBA Finals.

he also forgot to mention Bill Russell, and another former Rox, "Fo-Fo-Fo" Moses Malone. KA Jabbar's offensive skills would frustrate the hell outta Shaq

Sabonis and Shaq are pretty much the same type of player except Shaq is much stronger. Shaq would have Eaten Sabonis for lunch.

you have any idea who Sabonis is?

haha again druno just posts complete nonsense based on his limited knowledge and superficial assumptions.

LET ME break down what druno is thinking in this regard. sadly after all these years I understand how his limited mind works.

first of all he has no idea who Arvydas Sabonis is. BUT he just read that Yao compared Shaq to Wilt and Sabonis.

IN durno's LIMITED MIND that automatically leads to all kinds of assumptions. first of all since he's compared to Shaq druno immediately convinces himself that since he's compared to Shaq he must be a comparable player.

This is REINFORCED by the comparison to Wilt, who was the most impressive/strong athlete in NBA history. at this point druno is CONFIDENT ENOUGH in his ignorant ASSUMPTIONS to post... in his mind having been given TWO CRUCIAL PIECES OF EVIDENCE that Arvydas Sabonis was in fact a brutish player like Shaq and Wilt

HOWEVER two crucial pieces make him post that "Shaq is much stronger"

FIRST AND FOREMOST, Shaq is black. He must be stronger. that's how druno's superficial mind sadly works. as much as he idiolizes Obama and black men he secretly proscribes to steretoypes about black's strength and aggression.

Second and more remote is the fact that druno KNOWS NOTHING OF SABONIS. if SABONIS was in fact AS GOOD as Shaq, wouldn't even druno have seen a youtube clip, heard others talk how good Sabonis is etc>? here druno's IGNORANCE forms a shield so he can post confidently in accord to his bigotry and ignorance.

for the record we DONT KNOW if Shaq or Sabonis was stronger in their prime. what we do know is that Sabonis was a 7'3" 300lb man who was known as one of the toughest men to play FIBA international ball. we know that Shaq wasn't even stronger than Yao in the lower body and that Sabonis comes from stock that has produced the "World's Strongest Man"

we also know that Sabonis was precisely in the mold of DAVID ROBINSON and HAKEEM, finesse, smooth centers that owned Shaq badly. Sabonis might have better than both these players when he was in his prime before his injuries... although this is debated. If a wrecked Sabonis could average 16 in the league he might have well put up 60-70 like Robinson or dominated other centers like Hakeem.

stop posting from ignorance and learn something

PRY

you don't know who Sabonis like you don't know InO

you're just parroting what some news clipping said.

i saw that Olympic contest between Sabo and Dave Robinson, that was year before you even know what a BB looks like.

he is stronger ath Robinson, not as quite or agile as Robinson; doesn't have the shooting range of Robinson. but he did posterized Robinson twice, he team beat Robinson

turd, neither have you. your opinion isn't worth toilet paper

phil

many / many centers have higher FT% than Shaq

And that makes him similar to Shaq?? Because he posterized a college all-star player?

Like Shaq, Sabonis
was a potent scorer who muslced opposing Center for scoring / rebounding position.

while agile, did not have freakish athleticism like D Howard nor Dave Robinson.

did not like defending the PnR

not as good a defender as DHoward nor DRobinson

Phil, by all means, enlighten us with your assessment of Sabonis's game.

you're a ****** clown.

you're arguing that Shaq and Sabonis (who you never even heard of until today) are SIMILAR PLAYERS

ROLF DUDE.

it's ****** sad, you're a self-identified Laker homer but what's clear is that until 2002 YOU NEVER WATCHED THE LAKERS.

it's impossible that you watched the Lakers and are completely ignorant of Sabonis who was a key figure in the epic 2000 rippoff job in the WCM by David Stern over the Portland Trailblazers.

99.9% SURE that you NEVER watched the Lakers and only bandwagoned after multiple championships to try to "fit in" with eveyone else talking about the Lakers. That Sabonis matchup was the FIRST year they won a ring before everyone was on the bandwagon so obviously you missed that year. Again it's IMPOSSIBLE that you were a legit Lakers fan and are ignorant of who Sabonis is or did not watched that series.

you're seriously stupid. arguing sabonis and shaq are similar means you're too stupid to live. seriously just let it go, why make additional stupid statements to dig yourself in deeper because you can't admit that you didn't know ****** and shot your mouth off from ignorance

as for strength, you can see Sabonis break a backboard with 1 hand at 0:18

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9AJ-Yclo4I&feature=fvsr

not saying he or shaq was stronger. shaq broke a lot of backboards in his prime. but clearly Sabonis is strong even at a much lighter weight... despite being white or whatever superficial racist stereotype you posted

ur a ****** moron. you dont even talk about Sabonis' PASSING which is the hallmark of his game.

that right there PROVES you have absolutely no clue who he is.

it's like talking about Reggie Miller without mentioning his 3pt shooting.

seriously every single one of those points is retarded as hell. why do you post straight crap to embarrass yourself simply because you can't admit you made something up. admit it, move on. no one expects any better from you anyways.

seriously lol. pick and roll defense LMFAO. you realize those USSR teams used primarily ZONE DEFENSE. stupid.

it's like you just randomly picked some stuff about centers just hoping it might apply to Sabonis. a center who likes to use his strength for scoring LOL. geez I wonder if that could be said about ANY center? not as good a defender as Howard? go the full distance and post "not as good a shot blocker as Hakeem." considering Hakeem is the best ever... I THINK that might be true. stupid as hell.

you also dont talk about Sabonis shooting and his court vision. you have absolutely no idea who he is, and no clue how to figure out who he is so you can at least lie about knowing him

I know very little about Sabonis other than what I saw of him in the NBA...but I do know that there has never really been another player like Shaq...and if there was one, I certainly don't believe it would be an international player from the 80s since international rules do not favor physical players...
