A real stern test for the Houston Rockets when they meet Dallas Mavericks in Toyota Centre.

This is the 3rd time they met. They won the season opener in Dallas, but in their second rematch in Houston, they lost it to the Mavericks playing without Yao Ming.

Houston Rockets is currently ranked 6th in Western Conference, only 0.5 game above Dallas Mavericks which is ranked 7th.

This will be a MUST-WIN game for the Rockets, or else insteads of leading by 0.5 game, they will fall behind by 0.5 game, and leapfrogged by the Mavericks in the ranking.

Tracy McGrady will not be playing, and Rafer Alston is traded and gone. Aaron Brooks will start and play in position 1. It remains to be seen whether the 2 new players, Kyle Lowry and Brian Cook will get any meaningful play minutes; Brian Cook most probably will not get any play minutes, as the Rockets has sufficient players (Luis Scola, Carl Landry and Chuck Hayes) rotating in the power forward position. As for Kyle Lowry, it is all up to whether Rick Adelman has confidence in playing him, but most likely someone else like Brent Barry will play back-up to Aaron Brooks.

This will be an interesting match-up. The Houston Rockets needs to play with intensity, energy, and urgency. They need to continue their current winning momentum, and deliver the same type of flowing offense and tough defense like they did in their previous 2 wins over the Sacramento Kings and New Jersey Nets, by deploying Yao Ming as the go-to-guy, cos he should be unstoppable playing against Erica Dampier.

GO GO ROCKETS !!! GO GO BIG YAO !!!

This is going to be a crucial match and a nail-biting one. All eyes will be on AB and Kyle to see if they could take on the pressure. My other concern is if Carl Landry is fit enough to play.

Carl will probably not playing ........He suffered a sprained right ankle in previous game with New Jersey Nets, and did not take part in the team practice yesterday.

Big Yao in yesterday's team practice. He was obviously in a good mood, and that was prior to learning that Rafer Alston was traded.

Glad to see Rafer gone but the timing is questionable, Brooks certainly has potential but I doubt he is ready. If anything it seems he has slumped since the start of the season into very inconsistent performances. Now he's meant to lead the Rockets in this final stretch and in the playoffs?

Seems like Daryl Morey has somewhat given up on the season and looked to build for next season. I can't see Brian cook contributing much to this team, Kyle lowry is geared towards building for the future as well.

I guess we can only hope that Brooks takes up the challenge like how Rajon Rondo did with the Celtics last season and be able to effectively run this team.

I don't think Morey and the Rockets have given up this season. You still have to play out the season regardless. I just think this was a good opportunity for them to do what they wanted to do all along, if it means to get rid of Alston. After all, they might not get that opportunity again during off season. So they seized the moment and sent Alston packing. Besides, if they believe the trade made themselves better, then you can't blame them for doing so.

This is a perfect opportunity to see what Brooks/Lowry can do against Kidd.

Amare Stoudemire is out and that's a huge blow to the Suns. They might be the odd team out for the playoff race, considering 9 teams fight for 8 spots.
