just out of curiosity; how many on this website were HOUSTON ROCKET fans before YAO MING was drafted? so the question is are you a ROCKETS FAN first and foremost or are you a YAO MING FAN thus you like the rockets too.

For me, I'll start it off by saying I am the latter. I am a YAO MING FAN AND A ROCKETS FAN 2ND; IF YAO WASN'T ON THE ROCKETS, I WOULDN'T WATCH THE ROCKETS

I ORIGINALLY POSTED THIS ON YAO AND ME, BUT DOESN'T SEEM MANY PEOPLE LOOK AT THAT.

I am the same as you. Yep on my favorites I have "Yao Ming on the court" so I look primarily here... I think other people have done the same.

I think the majority of the community on this forum were Yao fans first.

As for me, I live in minnesota so:
I was a KG and Timberwolves fan even before Yao fan. Okay so wolves suck now and KG is sadly going to leave. Neither are on the top of my list.

But answering your question about Yaomingmania members:
Yep, Yao fan first. I followed him since his first ESPN story.
Rox fan second.
Tmac fan third.

I was a T-Mac fan before Yao came into the league so I did watch the NBA pre-Yao. So if Yao left Houston I would still watch the Rockets because of Tracy.

Most people have been watching Michael Jordan for years.

I wasn't a die hard fan of any team during jordan era but now I am a die hard yao then Rox fan. I probably will follow yi's game and maybe Sun yue's games too if they get a lot of playing times.

I've been a Nets fan since the late 80s. Started watching the Rockets because of Yao. If Yao went to another team tomorrow, I'd probably stop following the Rockets.

I live in Georgia, should be a Hawks fan, but in the 80's, CBS played alot of Celtic games (probably because they were so good); so I became a Celtic fan when the team had Bird, Mchale, Parrish, DJ, and Ainge. Never bought a Celtic jersey though ( I do have an authentic Yao road jersey ) I liked the rockets when the dream and the glide went for their 2 titles in the 90's, but I wouldn't say I was an avid fan like I am now because of Yao. I hope we get the right pieces this year to make a deep run in the playoffs!
